Austin Peay State University Provost Lecture Series to feature art professor’s residency in Tanzania

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University art professor will discuss her three-week residency in Tanzania as part of the next Provost Lecture Series session at APSU.
Cynthia Marsh, professor of art, will speak at 3:00pm, Thursday, February 16th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The event is free and open to the public.

Mayor joins effort to include jobs initiatives in debt limit agreement

Clarksville, TN – As the debate continues in Washington, D.C., over raising the nation’s debt limit, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan recently join 49 other mayors from across the country to urge Congress and the President to include job creation initiatives in whatever agreement they reach.
Mayors from 50 cities, who gathered last week at the United States Conference of Mayors’ Summer Leadership meeting in Los Angeles, sent a letter to President Obama and the leadership of both the House and Senate that called on them “to consider the impact of your agreement on the overriding priority of job creation. McMillan Elected to Mayors’ Conference Leadership

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has been elected to the U.S. Conference of Mayors top leadership team during the organization’s 79th Annual Meeting in Baltimore. She joins 29 other mayors from cities across the country on the Advisory Board. She and Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield are the only mayors from Tennessee to serve in leadership positions in the Conference. [Read more]
Update on USA Today/Rand McNally’s Best of the Road Most Patriotic City Contest

Clarksville Tennessee ended up with the most votes, 650 to be exact. Now we need to be prepared to dazzle the Road Team that will visit our city with out any advance notice. We need to show our patriotism.
Five teams, selected by Rand McNally and USA TODAY, will depart New York City on June 23rd for a three-week, cross-country rally — to the top 20 towns nominated in the five categories, as well as points of interest along the way — before winding up in Los Angeles on July 15th. [Read more]
