Clarksville, TN – Through the keen eyes of a sculptor, an architect and an exhibit designer, the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza has come to life at Freedom Point.
A bronze statue of Coach Summitt, hometown hero and legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, and an interpretative display of her life story will be dedicated at 3:00pmFriday, June 15th, 2018 in Clarksville’s Liberty Park.
“Though her famous ‘stare’ may be missing, our sculpture hopes to embody her passion and fire,” said Brett Grill, sculptor of the Coach Summitt statue. “She was a rare talent, quickly ascending to the highest reaches of her field, which she dominated throughout her career.”

Landscape and construction are now complete at the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza at Freedom Point. Clarksville Parks & Recreation and TWRA to hold annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park on June 9th

Clarksville, TN – The 2018 Free Fishing Day is this Saturday, June 9th, 2018 when anyone may fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters.
TWRA and Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be holding their annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park’s pond on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 from 7:00am to 9:00am. Hot Dogs and Drinks will be available.
Over 300 participants are expected. The age limit for the event is 0 to 16 years of age.

TWRA and City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s Annual Youth Fishing Rodeo is being held Saturday, June 9th at the Liberty Park Pond.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will host Road to Riverfest, an outdoor concert series featuring live music, food and beer at Liberty Park during the three months leading up to Riverfest, Clarksville’s award winning festival.
Now in its 31st year, Riverfest is Clarksville’s longest running community festival and brings more than 30,000 people to the banks of the Cumberland River in an arts and recreation celebration.

Pat Head Summitt Statue, life-story display will be unveiled at Freedom Point
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville civic volunteers will achieve their goal of honoring Pat Head Summitt, hometown hero and legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, with the dedication of the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza at Freedom Point next month.
A bronze statue of Coach Summitt and an interpretative display of her life story will be dedicated at 3:00pm Friday, June 15th, 2018 in Clarksville’s Liberty Park. The public is invited to the event, which will include introductions of sculptor Brett Grill, members of Pat Head Summitt’s family, dignitaries and committee members, followed by a keynote speech and unveiling of the statue.

Construction continues at the future site of the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza at Freedom Point. Clarksville civic volunteers will achieve their goal of honoring Pat Head Summitt, hometown hero and legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, with the dedication next month. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan proclaims May Cystic Fibrosis Month

Community joins in to continue research, awareness
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has proclaimed May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month in Clarksville and urges all citizens to learn more about and support those affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes debilitating lung infection, progressive lung destruction and premature death. An estimated 30,000 Americans have Cystic Fibrosis and more than 10 million unknowingly carry the defective gene.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan met with local members of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and issued a proclamation designating May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month in Clarksville. Clarksville, TN – The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s sixth annual Opening Day for Trails will unfold in Clarksville on the Cumberland Riverwalk at McGregor Park, Downtown’s Upland Trail, and the beautiful 5.5-mile Clarksville Greenway.
Opening Day, a celebration of trails nationwide, will be Saturday, April 7th and serve as the unofficial launch of the spring trail season for outdoor enthusiasts and trail lovers.
