Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – This month, the Austin Peay State University Women’s and Gender Studies Program, the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and V-Day are celebrating 11 years of producing Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues.”

APSU Women’s and Gender Studies Program to celebrate 10 years of producing Ensler’s play

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Women’s and Gender Studies Program will celebrate 10 years of producing Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues” next week.

The show, also sponsored by the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance at APSU and the V-Day national effort, will be performed at 7:00pm, March 30th and 31st in Clement Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 each. [Read more]

Celebrate V-Day with APSU showing of “The Vagina Monologues”

vday-logoAustin Peay State University Women’s Studies Program and the student organization Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance present a production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” in commemoration of V-Day.  The cost of admission is $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Sexual Assault Center, Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee, Magdalene House and Safehouse.

The production will take place at 7 p.m., March 3-4 in the Clement Auditorium on the campus of APSU.

In addition, APSU’s Clothesline and Handprint Projects V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of playwright Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues,” and other artistic works. In 2008, volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world produced more than 4,000 V-Day events.

The V-Day movement has raised more $60 million and educated millions about violence against women and the efforts to end it. These efforts include crafting international educational media and PSA campaigns, launching the Karama program in the Middle East, opening shelters and funding more than 6,000 community-based antiviolence programs and safe houses in the Democratic Republic Of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, South Dakota, Egypt and Iraq.
