The City of Clarksville holds annual Spring Eggstravanganza

Spring EggstravaganzaClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation held their annual Spring Eggstravanganza easter egg hunt Saturday at at the Heritage Park Baseball Fields. Separate hunts were held for kids in four different age groups, with more than 30,000 eggs shared between them. Scattered among the eggs were special golden eggs, which entitles the finder to a free week session of swim lessons at one of Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s pools.

It’s an amazing thing to watch as these children, no matter their age, can vacuum up 15,000 eggs in just a few short minutes. The Age groups this year were 2 years old and under, 3-5 years old, 6-8 years old, and 9-12 years old.

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the campus of Austin Peay. Clarksville Senior Olympics to kick off May 4th

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Senior adults ages 50 and up can register now until April 29th for the 2011 Clarksville Senior Olympics. This year’s events will be May 4th-7th at various locations around Clarksville, including The Swan Lake Sports Complex and Golf Course, Kleeman Community Center, The Pinnacle Bowling Center, and Burt-Cobb Community Center.

Seniors will face off for bragging rights, as well as medals in more than 20 challenging events, which include shuffleboard, tennis, track, golf, bowling, basketball free throw, pickle ball and billiards. Because we now have the Indoor Aquatic Center, swimming events have been added. [Read more]

Registration for the 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race has begun

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Sunday, May 1st.

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus. Despite record-breaking rainfall during last year’s race, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members participated.
