Ceremony to honor Joel Plummer planned

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – State Senator Tim Barnes has announced that Montgomery County officials will hold an unveiling ceremony for the Joel Plummer Memorial highway on Friday, November 4th, commemorating the life of a public servant who made Montgomery County his home and his life.

Plummer was born in Montromery County where he lived his entire life. After serving in the U.S Navy during the Korean War, he returned home and was appointed deputy sheriff at the age of 22. Joel Plummer was eventually elected Sheriff of Montgomery County, was Montgomery County Trustee, Montgomery County Executive (now County Mayor) and was Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Safety from 1975-1979. City of Clarksville announces Fall Debris Clean Up 2011

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Mayor Kim McMillan has announced that the city of Clarksville Street Department will begin picking up yard debris, leaves and limbs, November 1st-November 27th, 2011.

Yard debris, such as leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or cardboard boxes and placed near the street. [Read more]

2011 Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, November 5th, with pre-parade ceremonies set for 9:00am at 1 Public Square in downtown Clarksville. Guest speaker is Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Hubert G. Smith, who served 35 years on active duty, with remarks by County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and City Mayor Kim McMillan.

This year’s parade theme is “Saluting Special Forces and Wounded Warrior Veterans.” [Read more]

Mayor Kim McMillan welcomes Federal support for Homeland Security Watercrafts

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan welcomed news that the City of Clarksville can proceed with the procurement of two watercrafts after receiving more than $300,000 in grant funding from the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Port Security Grant Program.

The City of Clarksville is one of Tennessee’s 11 Homeland Security Districts to be awarded federal funding from the Homeland Security Grant Funds. [Read more]
