Another Step Closer for the Clarksville Marina

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Mayor Kim McMillan received notification that the Army Corps of Engineers has approved the lease agreement between the City of Clarksville and Cumberland River, LLC.

“Corps approval is a critical step in moving forward with development,” explained Mayor McMillan. “Once the City Council approved the agreement on Tuesday night, we immediately moved forward to sign and forward it to the Corps for review. To receive approval within 48 hours is a direct result of our hard work and commitment to completing this project. We are very appreciative of the wonderful working relationship we have with the Corps and their enthusiasm for the project and we look forward to working with them to bring it to completion.” [Read more]

Clarksville City Offices Holiday Schedule

City offices will also be closed on January 2nd, 2012 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Clarksville Transit System to provide Transportation for Christmas Celebration

Clarksville Transit SystemClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Transit System will provide “added service” transportation to the 4th Annual Warm Souls Christmas event provided by the Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries. The celebration will take place on December 24th, 2011 from noon to 4:00pm.

“We are very happy that the Clarksville Transit System is able to provide this added service transportation to this great community event through its existing routes,” said Mayor Kim McMillan. The Mayor is planning to ride one of the buses to the event. [Read more]

Clarksville Fire Rescue Offers Free Home Screenings

Clarksville Fire RescueClarksville, TN – Through the month of December, Clarksville Fire Rescue will offer free home screenings for city residents. These fire safety screenings will include a check of all safety equipment like smoke detectors and other alarms, making sure each family has an escape plan if a fire occurs and a general inspection for fire hazards in the home.

“This is the first time Clarksville Fire Rescue has offered this service and we’re very excited about the program,” said Clarksville Fire Marshal Ray Williams. “Most fire related deaths happen between December and February each year and most fatalities involve people over 65 and children 5 years old or younger. This program will save lives by helping Clarksville’s families be prepared.” [Read more]

The seminar, which is offered by invitation only, focuses on training newly elected mayors and takes place every two years. All expenses for the seminar are paid by the Institute.

“I’m very honored to be invited to this seminar and look forward to hearing from some of the most respected leaders in public policy and leadership. The City of Clarksville adds new local content to AT&T’s U-verse TV

PEG channel added to U-verse TV in Clarksville, Tennessee

AT&TClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and AT&T Tennessee today announced that Public, Education and Government (PEG) programming provided by The City of Clarksville is now carried on AT&T U-verse® TV Channel 99.

This station is operated by Austin Peay State University (APSU). APSU’s GovTV channel provides its viewers live and rebroadcast coverage of OVC sports, classic arts showcase, NASA and various community events that also include Clarksville’s city council meetings. AT&T U-verse launched in Tennessee in December 2008.

Join the City of Clarksville and US Bank as we celebrate Christmas on the Cumberland’s 13th year with a grand opening ceremony, November 22nd at 6:30pm at McGregor Park’s RiverWalk.

The grand opening will feature the official lighting of the Cumberland by Mayor Kim McMillan along with special guests, Channel 4 News Snowbird, and the jolly old man himself- Santa Claus!
