Montgomery County’s Civitan Park 25 Acre Expansion Open for Use

Montgomery County, TN – On Friday evening, September 6th, 2019, approximately 200 people gathered to celebrate the much-anticipated opening of the 25-acre expansion, including Rotary’s Field of Dreams, at Montgomery County’s Civitan Park.
The idea for the park expansion began nine years ago with a vision to have a space that kids with special needs could call their own. That vision is now a wonderful reality for children, young adults and parents alike.

So it is no surprise that almost 2000 tiles have been hand painted by Clarksville-Montgomery County residents as part of the Pillars of Hope: Remembering our Heroes through Art and Reflection since late 2012. A project dedicated to the memory of the September 11th attacks on our nation that honors and remembers those who serve our country.
Montgomery County Ranks Second-Highest of all Tennessee Counties for Tourism Growth

Visitor Spending in Montgomery County Tops $244.7 Million in 2018
Clarksville, TN – Montgomery County saw the second-highest growth rate in tourism spending of all 95 Tennessee counties during 2018. Direct travel spending increased 9.12% over 2017, for a record-high of $244.7 million.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Mark Ezell announced Tuesday that the state hit a record-high $22 billion in domestic and international travel spending, up 6% from 2017.
Thurman Campbell Group becomes Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certified

Montgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, June 11th, 2019, the Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program held a green ribbon cutting to welcome Thurman Campbell Group (TCG) as the newest Green Certified organization.
The event was attended by Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Program Manager Carlye Sommers and Program Board Members Daryl Pater, Haley Randell, Gene Fish and Doug Jones as well as by TCG staff.
Kroger becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

Montgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, May 28th, 2019, a green ribbon cutting was held to recognize Kroger as the latest Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified organization. The certification covered all three Kroger stores in Clarksville (Dover Crossing, Madison Street and Lowes Drive).
Those in attendance at the Green Ribbon Cutting were Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Montgomery County Chief of Staff Kyle Johnson, Program Manager Carlye Sommers and Program board members Daryl Pater, Haley Randell and Doug Jones.
LG Electronics unveils $360 Million Dollar Home Appliance Factory in Clarksville Tennessee

Clarksville, TN – Today, May 29th, 2019, LG Electronics held a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil its new million-square-foot home appliance manufacturing facility in Clarksville, Tennessee, where the company is now producing its top-rated washing machines* for the U.S. market.
The $360 million factory, believed to be the most advanced, integrated washing machine production plant in the world, already employs more than 550 American workers who are supporting continued production ramp-up – helping to accelerate delivery of LG’s innovative home appliances to better meet U.S. consumer demand.

APSU hosts partnership meeting with city and county leaders

Clarksville, TN – Last Friday morning, Dr. Alisa White, Austin Peay State University president, told several community leaders that she is proud of the University’s record enrollment of 10,954 students and Austin Peay’s position as the fastest-growing university in Tennessee.
The mid-term goal is to reach 13,000 students with an eventual steady enrollment state of 15,000 students.

Ice Skating Ends at Downtown Commons

Downtown Commons Winter Ice Rink
Montgomery County, TN – Soon the green space at Downtown Commons will be open again as we bid farewell to the outdoor ice rink for the 2018-2019 season. The second year of skating at the Downtown Commons Winter Ice Rink ended this week. It was another successful season with thousands of skaters who were able to take advantage of an uncommon outdoor activity for our community. The tear down process will begin by the end of this week.
After looking at trends from the 2017-2018 ice skating season, changes were made in 2018-2019 that included fewer days and hours for optimum use.
