Clarksville recognizes close ties with Military during Warrior Week Ceremony at Eternal Flame

Clarksville TN Top Spot LogoClarksville, TN – As part of the annual Warrior Week celebration (June 16th-24th), the Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee held a ceremony at the Eternal Flame monument on Public Square honoring veterans past and present for their service and the sacrifices they make for our nation.

Warrior Week is a week-long celebration that honors military men and women, and their families. It gives local residents and businesses a chance to show appreciation for their service and sacrifice.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Brig. Gen. Jeffery N. Colt, Deputy Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division place a wreath at the Eternal Flame as part of the Warrior Week observances.

130 Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team returned home Monday morning

The 1st Brigade Combat TeamThe rainy weather that has been over Montgomery County since the early weekend broke for a bit on Monday morning in time to allow 130 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team to return home without getting a good soaking. The soldiers are returning from a tough year long deployment to the Kunar Province of Afghanistan. 38 Soldiers from the Brigade died while deployed in the war zone, numerous others received life changing injuries.

Family and friends of the returning soldiers had gathered together to give their loved ones a proper welcome home.

Fort Campbell Welcome Home Ceremony – 101st CAB – March 7th 2011

Fort Campbell, KY – On March 7th, 2011 at 5:30pm,  a flight  Monday afternoon with 210 soldiers of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade returning home to Fort Campbell after a year deployed into the war zone of Afghanistan. They were greeted by the new Deputy Commander of the 101st Airborne Division Brig. Gen. Jeffery N. Colt.
