Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

The upcoming events include: Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival, Candlelight Yoga at the Cave, and Unknown Realms.

Dunbar Cave State Park to hold Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival, August 17th

Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TN – On Saturday, August 17th, 2019, the 4th annual Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival will be held at Dunbar Cave State Park in Clarksville, Tennessee.

This is a FREE event and a great way to spend an educational day outdoors for all ages. Parking at the park is limited but overflow parking with a shuttle is available at Dunbar Cave Baptist Church, 300 Dunbar Cave Road.

The festival will take place rain or shine. We look forward to seeing you there.

This 144-acre park in Clarksville is situated around Dunbar Cave which has the distinction of being the 280th largest cave complex in the world, stretching 8.5 miles toward the center of the earth.

The entrance to Dunbar Cave was inhabited by local prehistoric peoples for thousands of years before settlers arrived.

Dunbar Cave’s Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival Fun for All

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Park at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road held its Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival on Saturday with numerous events for the family.

From 9:00am to 11:00am and again from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, hummingbirds were banded by Cyndi Routledge, a master bander who has completed the five-year course taught by the Department of the Interior.

Information gathered at the banding is sent to Laurel, Maryland where a huge data base on hummingbirds is located under the auspices of the United States Geological Survey.

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – On August 20th, 2016 the very first Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival will be held from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Dunbar Cave State Park in Clarksville, TN.

It’s free, open to the public and a great way to spend an educational day outdoors for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult).
