High schoolers experience campus life during Austin Peay’s AP Day on October 6th

Clarksville, TN – When Lynzie Averitt started looking at colleges last fall, she thought she’d end up at the University of Tennessee at Martin. But then, in October of 2017, the Houston County High School senior decided to visit Austin Peay State University for AP Day.
“That made the decision for me,” Averitt said. “I came to AP Day, and that’s the day I decided to come to Austin Peay. I just loved the atmosphere and all the stuff the University offered. For me, the major deciding factor was AP Day.”
Planters Bank Promotes Amanda Vinson and Jessica Shaw

Hopkinsville, KY – Planters Bank announces the promotions of Amanda Vinson to Vice President/Commercial Lending and Jessica Shaw to Commercial Banking Officer.
Vinson joined Planters Bank in January 2005 as a customer service representative and was later promoted to credit analyst, senior credit analyst, and assistant vice president. Vinson graduated from Houston County High School and received a B.B.A with a concentration in Finance from Austin Peay State University in 2002. She is married to Dane.
APSU Scholarship honoring legacy of Houston County educator O.S. Uffelman now fully endowed

Clarksville, TN – In 2011, Dr. Minoa Uffelman, Austin Peay State University associate professor of history, set out to honor the legacy of her late father, O.S. Uffelman.
For several decades, he’d inspired countless individuals as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent of Houston County Schools. Since education was so important to her father, Minoa and her husband, Joel Evans, decided to create the O.S. Uffelman Exemplary History Student Award at APSU.

Heritage Bank Awards $26,000 in Scholarships to Area Students

Clarksville, TN – Heritage Bank has awarded 52 students at 30 area schools $500.00 scholarships. The scholarships were made possible by the 8 year old Heritage Bank Scholarship Fund. Since founding the fund, the bank has awarded college scholarships totaling $170,000 to 340 students selected from the various communities that Heritage Bank serves. This scholarship fund is one of the largest efforts made to enhance the educational endeavors for students of Western Kentucky and Tennessee.
