Military Alumni & Friends Day welcomes APSU staff, community members to Fort Campbell

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Fort Campbell not only plays an important role in the efforts of the United States military, but also serves as a pillar of the local Clarksville community. With the goal of thanking community and academic leaders, Fort Campbell opened its doors Friday, April 24th for Military Alumni & Friends Day.

“We here all appreciate what you all in the community do for us … (the community) really bends over backwards to support us,” Bob Jenkins, Fort Campbell director of public affairs, said. “There is a really symbiotic relationship between Fort Campbell, Clarksville and Austin Peay State University.”

Manna Café Ministries “Manna Madness” is going on now

Manna Café MinistriesClarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries announces Manna Madness, a 31-day event to raise awareness about and take action against hunger in the Clarksville area. The past few weeks have caused many Montgomery County workplaces to close, and, as a result, people have less money to put food on the table.

For the entire month of March, Manna Café will be collecting food and monetary donations to ensure we have enough food on our shelves to meet the needs in our community.

Battle of the Bulge Seminar Series to be held in Clarksville January – April 2015

Battle of the BulgeClarksville, TN – On December 16th, 1944, the German Army launched a desperate offensive designed to split the Allied armies in two and capture the strategic supply port of Antwerp, Belgium. This offensive has come to be known as the Battle of the Bulge.

We are now in the midst of the 70th Anniversary of that offensive and historians from the Clarksville area including history faculty from Austin Peay State University will take part in presenting a series of programs that will educate, inform and enlighten the public as to the importance of this offensive. A highlight of one seminar will be actual World War 2 veterans that served in the Bulge fighting.

“Du The Dream” in Clarksville at 2015 Dream Factory Duathlon

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Dream Factory and Visit Clarksville are excited to announce the second annual “Du the Dream” Duathlon on April 25th, 2015.

The “Du the Dream” Duathlon will be held near Beachaven Vineyards and Winery, 1100 Dunlop Lane, and will consist of a run-bike-run course designed for the whole family. All proceeds will support the Clarksville Chapter of the Dream Factory, the second-largest children’s wish-granting organization in the U.S. Money granted to The Dream Factory funds wishes of children who are not only terminally ill, but also children who suffer with chronic and critical illness. Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Thursday, September 25th, Convergys and White Staffing will be at the New Providence Community Policing Center Job Fair from 10:00am until 1:00pm.

Convergys seeks to fill 100 customer service sales positions in Clarksville. Pay rate is $9.50/hour. Convergys also has an “Experience is Education” program that allows individuals who do not have a high school diploma or GED to work while pursuing their educational goals.

Planters Bank Promotes Amanda Vinson and Jessica Shaw
