Clarksville, TN – On Wednesday, September 7th, there will be a multi-employer job fair held at the Clarksville-Montgomery Public Library from 10:00am until 2:00pm.
The Library is partnering with Goodwill Career Solutions for a multi-employer job fair. There will be over 20 employers with 700+ openings. Bring your resume, photo ID and Social Security Card or birth certificate. Please dress for success and be ready to interview.
Fort Defiance Interpretive Center holds Civil War Reenactment and Book Signing event

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, March 19th, the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center hosted reenactment by the 5th Tennessee Company “E” reenactment and book signing event. Uniformed Reenactors demonstrated the life of a Civil War soldier along with musket firings from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
Author Michael Shoulders held the launching of his new book “Crossing the Dead Line” at the Center from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. He signed copies and read from his new book.

Clarksville, TN – Hilltop Super Market held their 5th annual BBQ Cook off Saturday, May 3rd. The weather was warm with a cool breeze. Perfect weather of a barbeque contest. There were teams from miles around competing in the event.
All day long, people were coming and going. There was plenty of food to be had. Anything from hamburger, hotdogs, barbecue sandwiches, ribeye sandwiches and barbecue by the pound.

Two Rivers Chapter Volunteers Working to Meet Emergency Needs
Clarksville, TN – Severe spring storms and flash floods poured torrential rain over much of Tennessee on Saturday morning and again in the evening.
Eight homes were destroyed from the flood with 26 others sustaining major damage, across 4 counties including Henry, Houston, Montgomery and Stewart. The Red Cross responded immediately to provide food, shelter and emotional support to help families who had been affected by the storms. [Read more]

August 9th is the Deadline for Tennesseans to Register with FEMA

Nashville, TN – Tennesseans who suffered losses due to severe spring weather have about six weeks remaining to apply for assistance. August 9th is the last day the Federal Emergency Management Agency will accept applications for individual assistance.
State and federal officials continue to encourage anyone with damage or other losses in the disaster-designated counties to register. “You may think you don’t need assistance, but you could later have disaster related losses,” said TEMA Director James H. Bassham “Registration with FEMA is free. It’s better to get your name in the system before the August 9th deadline. After that date, it will be too late.” [Read more]
Deer Archery Hunters see increase in opening weekend Harvest

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s deer archery hunters saw an increase in their harvest from 2009 on the opening weekend of the 2010 season. A total of 2,401 deer were taken, an increase of 163, with all 95 counties reporting harvests.
Montgomery County led the opening weekend (September 25th-26th) totals with 75 harvests, edging the 2009 leader, Giles County’s reporting total of 72.
Other top county totals were Stewart 68, Roane 61, Henry 59, Smith 55, Maury 50, Jackson 49, Sumner 48, Hardeman and Hamilton 46, Carter and Wilson 45. [Read more]
