Respiratory therapy graduates celebrate at pinning ceremony

Clarksville, TN – Miller-Motte Technical College summer 2011 respiratory therapy program graduates celebrated at their pinning ceremony on Friday September 30th, 2011. Graduates receiving their pins include Shanna Bruns, Sonya Cates, Thaddeus Murray, Jennifer Roberts, Courtney Perdue, Seon Balistrere, and Ranji Thomas.
New minor at APSU to help pre-professional health students prepare for graduate programs

Clarksville, TN – When a student comes to Austin Peay State University wanting to be a doctor, he or she can pretty much major in any field. Typically, students enroll in biology, chemistry or psychology programs, but a few have been known to get degrees in subjects such as English or history.
“But they have to fulfill a number of prerequisites in order to go to med school,” Dr. Cindy Taylor, professor of biology, said.
Those prerequisites include several courses in science-related fields, such as biology and chemistry, and many professional health graduate programs mandate that students complete a certain number of volunteer hours and job-shadowing experiences before they apply for admission. [Read more]
Sara Crotts awarded $3,000.00 Blavatnik Family Foundation/ThanksUSA Scholarship

Clarksville, TN – Miller-Motte Technical College® Respiratory Therapy Program student Sara Crotts has been selected to receive the Blavatnik Family Foundation/ThanksUSA Scholarship.
Mrs. Crotts is originally from Salem, VA and is now residing in Clarksville, TN., with her husband Spc. Karl Crotts who is stationed at Fort Campbell.

Afghan President visits Fort Campbell

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — Afghan President Hamid Karzai brought a message of thanks to Soldiers and their Families at Fort Campbell today, as the 101st Airborne Division continues to deploy to his country.
Karzai’s visit to the installation comes on the heels of a week of talks in Washington, D.C., with President Barack Obama. The two leaders used the time to help repair relations between Afghanistan and the U.S., after a year of rising tensions. [Read more]
