Gwendolyn Rodriguez Shows Art Planters Bank November 7th

Planters BankClarksville, TN – Gwendolyn Rodriguez loves to paint pictures that tell a story of a person or a time and place. Her paintings, showing a sample of her diverse interests and places around the world, will be on display at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery Thursday, November 7th – Wednesday, December 4th.

Although born in San Antonio, Texas, Rodriguez spent most of her childhood in Middle Tennessee. At 18, she experienced life as an exchange student in Germany, where she developed a passion for travel and languages.

Customs House Museum Exhibits Archetypes

The Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – A series of acrylic on paper paintings by Diane Shaw fill the walls of the Customs House Museum’s Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery through the month of June.

The abstract landscapes of Shaw’s work create a delightful, albeit eerie, sense of calm. Lone figures hide within the movements of color.

First Thursday Art Walk

You’re invited to join the merchants of Historic Downtown Clarksville for The monthly Art Walk, on April 1st from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Kendall Welsh from ARTifacts sent us this information about April’s artistic extravaganza.

Four diverse young artists will bringing their work to the Austin Peay Downtown Gallery in April for a month-long group exhibit. The show, which will feature APSU art alumni Janelle Costello, Caroline Tuzeneu, Sam Matthews and William Arnett Gentry, opens with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 1, and it will run through May 1.

The show will feature startlingly original work, such as Costello’s diorama-like photography collages that depict surreal scenes of imagined narratives.

“The intent of this body of work is to invite the viewer to temporarily escape the mundane by accentuating the beauty of make-believe,” she said. [Read more]
