Clarksville, TN – For one weekend in September, the parents and siblings of Austin Peay State University (APSU) students are invited to share in the campus life experience during APSU’s annual Family Weekend.

Concert part of ceremony to unveil newly renamed Fortera Stadium
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, April 23rd, Austin Peay State University and Fortera Credit Union celebrate a new era in Governors Football with the unveiling of the newly renamed Fortera Stadium, capped off with a concert by Nashville recording artist Maggie Rose in the stadium lot.
Rose’s performance will conclude a day’s worth of activities, beginning with a noon baseball game, as the Governors take on Eastern Kentucky in Raymond C. Hand Park. At 1:00pm, Governors Softball will compete against Jacksonville State at Cheryl Holt Field.
APSU Marching Band to feature 500 musicians for November 7th football game

Austin Peay Governors’ Own Marching Band
Clarksville, TN – John Schnettler, director of the Austin Peay State University Marching Band, has a friendly, easy-going personality, but he might seem a little distracted during APSU’s final home game on Saturday, November 7th.
That’s because his 150-member Governors’ Own Marching Band (GOMB) will add about 350 additional musicians for that day’s half-time performance. Hopefully, the resulting 500-member ensemble will mesh well after only a few hours of rehearsing.
Austin Peay State University’s Hannah Johstono wins Miss College Majorette of Tennessee, heads to Nationals

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University featured twirler Hannah Johstono has demonstrated her talent and skill with a baton in front of crowds both large and small during her 14 years of twirling.
A regular with the Governor’s Own Marching Band for the past four seasons, Johstono has captivated everyone from APSU fans gathered in Governor Stadium’s Tailgate Alley to 100,000 fans at Neyland Stadium as the Governors took on the University of Tennessee Volunteers.
Roy Gregory to retire after 24 years of service to APSU

Clarksville, TN – After serving Austin Peay State University in multiple capacities for 24 years, Roy Gregory, executive director for University Advancement, announced he will retire on June 30th. Gregory informed colleagues and friends of his retirement plans Thursday morning.
“Austin Peay is a special place due to the great people on campus and the outstanding alumni, supporters and friends throughout the nation,” he said. “My years at APSU have been special for me and my family. I am retiring at a time when the future is indeed bright”
APSU’s New Governors Stadium to be community venue

Clarksville, TN – On Monday afternoon, crews with Bell Construction put the finishing touches on the new, Governors Stadium at Austin Peay State University. Yellow asphalt rollers smoothed out the front entrance and parking lot while workers secured railings to stairwells and swept up loose clumps of dirt.
Everything was being checked and cleaned for the $19 million facility’s grand opening at 10:00am, this Saturday, September 13th.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to host Imagination Library “Hats Off To Reading” with Celebrity Readers, June 25th

Clarksville, TN – Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer will be among the celebrity readers at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Wednesday, June 25th for a child-centered event to highlight the Montgomery County Imagination Library.
Other guest readers include GNASH, the Nashville Predators mascot, Kirby Cannon, APSU Head Football Coach, along with the APSU Governor’s mascot and the Tender Paws therapy dogs.
The fun will begin at 10:00 that morning in the atrium of the library.
APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity wins fourth Best Chapter of the Year award

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this month, business students at a few major universities were feeling optimistic.
Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity chapters at the University of Alabama, the University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, were all vying to be named the best chapter in the southern region.
APSU’s Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament is July 12th-13th at Fort Campbell’s Cole Park

Clarksville, TN – Since having a successful inaugural event in 2010, the Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament has returned every summer to raise money for scholarships – and will do so again next month.
The Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 12th and Saturday, July 13th at Cole Park at Fort Campbell, KY. The entry fee of $400.00 includes dinner, auction and scholarship presentation at 6:00pm, Friday, July 12th at the Bud Barn off Exit 19 on Interstate 24 and lunch at noon both days at Cole Park.

Clarksville, TN – Tickets for the 36TH Annual Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame Breakfast are on sale through Tuesday.
The breakfast, slated for 9:00am, Saturday, February 9th, will see Governors baseball coach Gary McClure, longtime team physician Dr. Cooper Beazley and former basketball star, Andrew Lorentzson, who was selected through the new Honors category, inducted, becoming the 101st, 102nd and 103rd members of APSU’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
