APSU Computer Science and Information Technology students compete, present research at major competitions

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Students from Austin Peay State University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technology have been active in recent weeks, competing in regional coding challenges, as well as presenting findings at a major academic conference.

Two teams of Austin Peay students recently made a strong showing at the Association for Computer Machinery-International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) 2017 Mid-Central USA Regional Contest, held Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – A distraught Queen Victoria asked members of her royal court to stop wearing lavish jewelry in the early 1860s. Her husband, Prince Albert, had just died, and the sight of such opulence offended the mourning queen.

In the months that followed, England’s aristocracy began dressing in black, and to stay in the monarch’s good graces, they adorned themselves in the less flashy marcasite jewelry. In that moment, a fashion trend was born.

APSU Public Relations and Marketing wins six awards at state conference

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University won six awards during the Tennessee College Public Relations Association (TCPRA) spring conference and awards contest, held May 27th-29th in Gatlinburg, TN.

TCPRA, an alliance of communicators across the state representing public and private colleges and universities, technical schools, technology centers and community colleges, awarded gold, silver and bronze distinctions in various writing, design, publication and photography categories. Entries were received for the contest period between April 1st, 2014 and April 30th, 2015.

Walk with Me Tennessee Program boasts another Prize Pack winner

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Walk with Me Tennessee program proudly congratulates Prize Pack Winner, Lynne Carter! Carter received a Fitness Prize Pack for being the first participant to report the completion of the Athens, Tennessee Challenge.

It is not too late to join in on this program that challenges Clarksvillians to walk across the state using a series of challenges featuring trails in Clarksville as well as “virtual trails” in other Walk with Me Tennessee pilot communities such as Athens and Sevierville.
