Clarksville, TN – On Friday, September 14th, 2018 Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, who will leave office when his term ends later this fall, visited Austin Peay State University, and he asked the school’s Board of Trustees what he should tell his successor about the University. Don Jenkins, a trustee, immediately mentioned Austin Peay’s military focus.
“This is a very military-friendly town, but it’s an incredibly military-friendly college,” he said.
APSU names retired Brigadier General Scott Brower as inaugural military adviser in residence

Clarksville, TN – On September 1st, 2018 retired Brigadier General Scott E. Brower, former deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, joined Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) senior leadership team as the institution’s first military adviser in residence.
In this new role, Brower will advise the APSU leadership team on how the University can better serve its military students and help the University optimize the process of recruiting, enrolling and graduating military-connected students.
APSU holds Historic First Board of Trustees meeting

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University convened its inaugural Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, March 30th, completing the transition from the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) to its own local governing board.
Austin Peay President Alisa White, joined by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and observed by University faculty and staff, as well as media and members of the community, called the ‘historic’ first meeting to order.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board
Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.
The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.
Austin Peay State University presents Walker Award to Cadet Nathan Brewer

Clarksville, TN – The recipient of the 2013 Command Sgt. Maj. Darol Walker Award at Austin Peay State University is one of the nation’s top ROTC cadets.
Cadet Nathan Brewer with APSU’s Governors Guard Battalion of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) was presented the award during a breakfast ceremony held Thursday, May 2nd at APSU. He already has prior military service, having been assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group and 82nd Airborne Division.
