Dr. Kristine Nakutis named as executive director of the Austin Peay State University Center at Fort Campbell

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Kristine V. Nakutis has been hired as the executive director of the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell, effective May 15th, 2017.
A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, Nakutis comes to Austin Peay from Jackson State Community College, where she has served as veterans affairs coordinator since 2015.

Girl Scouts donate over 37,000 packages of cookies to Fort Campbell

Nashville, TN – Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee (GSMIDTN) donated 37,444 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to Fort Campbell soldiers through its Gift of Caring program on March 17th. This donation amount was a 20.37% increase from last year’s gift.
Through Gift of Caring, Girl Scouts are able to show their appreciation for men and women in uniform or support those in need by giving them Girl Scout Cookies.
Austin Peay State University student newspaper staff wins 10 awards at Southeast Journalism Conference

Clarksville to Host 2017 Football All-Star Classic

Clarksville, TN – The 2017 Toyota East-West Football All-Star Classic will be held in Clarksville, Tennessee at Austin Peay State University on Friday, December 8th, 2017. The All-Star Classic is organized by the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) and is made up of the state’s top 88 senior football players who are selected from more than 400 nominations.
“During the process of competing for the TSSAA state championship, we captured the attention of folks at TACA,” said Visit Clarksville Executive Director Theresa Harrington.

Veterans at Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Clarksville receive Quilts of Valor

Clarksville, TN – On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th, 2016, members of Quilting in Clarksville presented 15 Quilts of Valor to veterans at Clarksville’s Tennessee State Veteran’s Home. The presentation began at 10:00am.
The Veterans home was filled with people there to watch the presentation of the quilts. Some of the people in attendance included: Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts; Members of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Association; Quilting in Clarksville Members: Dawn Wilcox, Jerry Church, Gloria Underwood, Lannette Miller , Roberta Samuels, Kathy Huff, Michelle Roberts; and members of the 101st Airborne Division.

2016 Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County gathered together in front of the Montgomery County Historic Courthouse this past Saturday, November 5th to honor our veterans, as well as those who are still serving their country.
The day started off at 9:00am with a Veterans Day Ceremony. Veterans Service Organization director Frank Mir gave the opening remarks followed by the 101st Airborne Division Honor Guard Posting the Colors.

APSU hosting Military Appreciation Day during November 5th football game

Clarksville, TN – This Saturday, November 5th, 2016, the Austin Peay State University athletics department will honor local veterans and military-affiliated individuals with a special Military Appreciation Day during APSU’s 4:00pm football game at Fortera Stadium.
All veterans, active-duty personnel and their families will receive free admission to the game with a current military I.D., and several military vehicles will be on display in tailgate alley and inside the stadium.
