Clarksville Transit System to provide Transportation for Christmas Celebration

Clarksville Transit SystemClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Transit System will provide “added service” transportation to the 4th Annual Warm Souls Christmas event provided by the Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries. The celebration will take place on December 24th, 2011 from noon to 4:00pm.

“We are very happy that the Clarksville Transit System is able to provide this added service transportation to this great community event through its existing routes,” said Mayor Kim McMillan. The Mayor is planning to ride one of the buses to the event. [Read more]

Planters Bank to Accept Donations for Phoenix Program During December

Roller Derby Season Finale Features Zombies and Commandos

Clarksville Red River SirensZombies vs. CommandosClarksville, TN – Just in time for the spooky season, Clarksville Roller Derby’s Red River Sirens present “Zombies vs. Commandos” on Saturday, October 22nd at Magic Wheels, 1671 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Doors open at 6:00pm and the action begins at 7:00pm.

Tickets are $7.00 at the door, with children aged 12 and younger admitted free with a paying adult. Attendees are invited to dress in costume.

The final event of the 2011 bout season, “Zombies vs Commandos” will consist of two 30-minute periods with an intermission. Halftime entertainment will include a children’s game led by The Nixies, the official “jeerleaders” for the Sirens, a kid’s costume parade and trick or treating with the Sirens. Gospel Skate Night

Everyone is welcome to attend. The cost is $5.00 per person (skates included) with all of the proceeds going to the Fisher House. Magic Wheels is located at 1671 Fort Campbell Boulevard, Clarksville.

When all hiring is complete, H&R Block may add as many as 170 new positions in the Clarksville area.

Clarksville Firefighters Remodel Station 6

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Fire Rescue will have an Open House at 11:00am Thursday, June 23rd, at Station 6, located at 8 Asbury Road, just off Fort Campbell Boulevard across from Cunningham Lane.

The station has been remodeled by Fire Rescue personnel, who have also built a 900-square-foot addition that serves as a dormitory with office space and fitness equipment. Station 6 was built in 1968 for an Engine Company of one fire truck and three firefighters. [Read more]

Carol Miller creates "torn papers" for scrapbook pages

Imagination. That’s the only limit to what you can create at Scrapper’s Delight Etc., a year-old locally owned Clarksville business that just moved and reopened in a new Fort Campbell Boulevard location in time for the holidays.

When owner Connie Parkerson wanted an investment, she turned to the booming business of memories and to store manager, Carol Miller, whose passion for the craft of making memory books was the perfect match.  Miller’s son, Jonathan, also works at the store, handling a myriad of tasks including an increasingly popular online scrapbooking network.

“Scrappers” are the millions of men, women and children captivated by this craft.

“People scrapbook for all kinds of reasons and use all kinds of forms,” Miller explains. “Hobbies. Memories. Making gifts.  Some people don’t use pictures. instead, they use recipes, or work on tins or boxes.”
