Thirty two Northeast and Rossview School students have spent their summer with sums, learning the financial ropes of operating their own credit unions, which will open in late August on each campus.

Current plans are for the Northeast branch to be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Rossview will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Architectural Heritage Bus Tour Kicks Off 2010 Clarksville Writer’s Conference
July 29, 2010
Where can you overhear a discussion of the war in ’62 and learn that it’s not Viet Nam being discussed but the War Between the States? Where can you find out a ghost may be lurking right down town in Clarksville? Where can you see tobacco leaves highlighted in the stained glass windows of an exquisite historic church?
The answer to all these questions is the Architectural Heritage Tour that is the first episode in the Sixth Annual Clarksville Writers’ Conference.
Here’s what you missed if you weren’t on the tour conducted by Josh Wright. He co-chaired with Micki Daugherty this year’s tour. Architect Wright gave a brief overview of each location to be visited during a presentation at the Riverview Inn where the group of 30 writers and history buffs met at 9:00am on Wednesday. Dunbar Cave’s Cooling at the Cave is Saturday July 31st
July 26, 2010
Transportation via golf cart between the parking lot and the cave entrance will be available for those who need it, thanks to the kindness of the Jeff Vaughn and the City of Clarksville.
With the heat index passing 100 lately, it is perfect timing for the Friends of Dunbar Cave’s annual Cooling at the Cave event. Bring your family out Saturday, July 31, from 4pm to 6pm and enjoy sitting at the mouth of the cave, which stays at 58 degrees year round.
Sitting in the shade at the mouth of the cave is how locals cooled off before the cave was a designated State Natural Area. Folks would bring tables, chairs, and board games. Some would play instruments, while others danced. This is the atmosphere the Friends of Dunbar Cave recreate every year. [Read more]

Do not Miss the Sixth Annual Clarksville Writer’s Conference
June 21, 2010
Writing is a lonely profession. Oh, sure, you have lots of company when you’re researching your project (unless all your research in on the Internet), but when you sit down and face that blank page, you’re on your own, my friend.
When an opportunity like the Sixth Annual Clarksville Writer’s Conference comes along, no writer can afford to miss it. Just rubbing shoulders with these highly successful people will give you impetus to keep on creating those masterpieces of your own.
Keep in mind, however, that you don’t have to be a writer to attend. You can be an avid reader and get a wealth of experiences from it too. [Read more]
The Unity Day Celebration was something special
June 7, 2010
Unity is the quality or state of being made one.
That is exactly what happened during the first annual Unity Day Celebration on Saturday night. For at least one evening, our community was made whole. The purpose of Unity Day was to help unite the Clarksville community, it celebrated the accomplishments our community’s leadership, and paid tribute to and recognized the hard work of non-profit organizations in Clarksville, TN; and It more than succeeded in reaching this lofty goal.
The event was the brainchild of Treva Gordon, the Founder and Publisher of the Convenient Shopper an advertising supported bi-monthly magazine. However, during the evenings ceremonies Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper announced that Unity Day would be officially recognized by the City each year.
Beauty and the Beast Jr. at the Roxy brings back fond memories
May 21, 2010
They say your first musical will always be your favorite, and that is the case for me with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, it was the show that was playing when I first ventured into the Roxy Regional Theatre. Their professional production of this Disney classic sparked a continuing love of Musical Theatre in me.
So, when I heard that the Roxy was planning on staging Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. as part of their 2010 season I was excited as I saw it as as chance to revisit my first musical. And I wasn’t disappointed. Watching those young actors and actresses performing their hearts out, renewed that feeling of wonder that I experienced when I sat in the seats watching my very first show at the Roxy.
A video used to be embedded here but the service that it was hosted on has shut down. [Read more]
