Rivers and Spires kicks off today!

Rivers and Spires Festiveal 2012 - 10 yearsClarksville, TN – It’s hard to believe another year has passed and we are ready up for the 10th annual Rivers and Spires Festival, April 19th-21st. As usual there will be tons of free concerts, entertainment and activities. But, because it is our birthday, and we think a big one, the Festival has a few surprises up its sleeve, but you’ll have to come out and see!

If you’ve never been to the Rivers & Spires Festival or are new to town, put it on your calendar and get ready to have a great time. Lined with craft and food vendors, six music stages, kids’ activities and artisan booths, Historic Downtown transforms each year as the festival goes into full swing. Music is a big part of the event, with at least two artists on one of the many stages at any given time. But it doesn’t stop at just music. Rivers and Spires 2012 Miss River Queen and Miss River Teen Crowned at Austin Peay State University

Rivers and Spires Festival 2012Clarksville, TN – Tara Zolfagharbik has been named Miss River Queen 2012, while Caitlin Campbell will reign as the new Miss River Teen. The new title holders were crowned at the pageants held Saturday, March 24th at Austin Peay State University’s Clement Auditorium.

The pair will reign over the Rivers and Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville, April 19th-21st, making numerous appearances, signing autographs and participating in Festival events.

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – Hilltop Super Market will hold their 3rd annual BBQ Cook Off May 11th and 12th, 2012. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishing teams as well as trophy prizes.

Team sign ups are going on now. The Categories this year include ribs, chicken, pork and brisket. The pork and brisket categories have been added this year.

Roxy Regional Theatre brings William Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale” to the Stage

The Winter's TaleRoxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Last night the Roxy Regional Theatre kicked off a production of one of William Shakespeare’s classic plays The Winter’s Tale, a story of envy, revenge, love and, ultimately, redemption. This marks their 27th consecutive year producing the Bard’s classic stories.

The play was directed by John McDonald and edited by Brandon Meeks, and tells the story of the jealous King Leontes of Sicilia who nearly topples his own kingdom when he falsely accuses his queen of adultery with his childhood friend, King Polixenes of Bohemia. In his foolishness and rage, he loses his wife, his son, and his baby daughter. The cycle of life and the power of true love come alive upon the Roxy stage, as a family is reunited, both physically and spiritually, through the power of forgiveness.

Comedy on the Cumberland recognized by Banking Magazine

Comedy on the CumberlandClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Banker magazine has recognized the community efforts of F&M Bank for it’s support of Clarksville’s popular “Comedy on the Cumberland” franchise. The stand-up comedy show that raises money for various local charities in Clarksville has been hugely successful in raising awareness of community charities, and generating much need cash for their operations.
