Movies in the Park to feature “Inception” staring Leonardo DiCaprio this Saturday

Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at Heritage Park Soccer fields for this month’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the 2010 American science fiction and action film – “Inception”- rated PG-13. Parental supervision is strongly recommended due to language and sexual content.
Inception is a 2010 American science fiction/action heist film written, co-produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Dileep Rao, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, and Michael Caine.
WJZM Radio transfers Ownership

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s original radio station, WJZM1400am, has transferred ownership. In a joint announcement this week, previous owner, Hank Bonecutter, said he had agreed to sell the corporation to local businessmen David Loos Jr, Greg Walker, and Mike Parchman. The sale became official on Tuesday.
“My wife and I are extremely excited about the sale,” said Bonecutter. “We have put a lot of hard work into WJZM, and this opportunity only comes along once in a lifetime to go out on your terms. I have dedicated my broadcasting career to the Clarksville-Fort Campbell community, bringing news, sports and current events to the public as reliable and credible as I can be. Riverfest Lighted Boat Parade

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday night, September 8th, sit back and watch as the Cumberland River is illuminated in a majestic display of floating lights during the 5th Annual Riverfest Lighted Boat Parade. Don’t want to just be a bystander in the show? Enter your boat in the festivities and you may even come home with an award!
Judging will take place at the McGregor Park courtesy boat dock. Locations throughout McGregor Park during the Riverfest Celebration will offer public viewing. In the event of inclement weather, boats will be judged at the Montgomery County Conservation Club and boats will not be expected to travel the parade route. Award results will be announced onstage after the completion of the parade.
Riverfest Regatta adds new plastic bottle division to race

Clarksville, TN – The Riverfest Regatta, sponsored by U.S. Bank, is not your typical boat race. The boats racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 8th, will be made of cardboard, a few other approved materials and this year, plastic bottles!
Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will also be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams in each division.
Competition will be in five divisions: Adult Open, Business and Industry, Church/Civic, City Department and Military.
Recycled Fashion Show to make its debut at this year’s Riverfest

Marshall Chapman Rocks the House during the 2012 Clarksville Writers Conference

Clarksville, TN – Marshall Chapman, born in a prominent South Carolina family and groomed to become a socialite, bolted from her confining future to make waves in the world of rock ‘n’ roll during and after her years at Vanderbilt University. Some of her 250 songs have been recorded by people like Jimmy Buffet, Emmylou Harris, Olivia Newton-John, Wynonna Judd, Sawyer Brown, Conway T witty—and the list goes on and on. Her “Rode Hard and Put Up Wet” was featured in the movie Urban Cowboy.
Marshall Chapman spoke and sang at this year’s writers’ conference in honor of her dear friend, William Gay, who died this past February. The conference itself was dedicated to William, who had been a central speaker at the conference for the past several years. Marshall told her stories and sang her songs with intimate details of her friendship with William and introduced songs from her new album, Big Lonesome, named by The Philadelphia Inquirer “Best Country/Roots Album of 2010.”
