Austin Peay State University ‘True Colors’ Homecoming 2012 is October 24th-27th

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will celebrate Homecoming 2012 with the theme, “True Colors.”
Homecoming is October 24th-27th. Here is a list of events planned as part of the week long celebration. Many of the events are open to the public.
Some of the events include a Student Talent Show, Golf Tournament, Alumni Receptions, 5K Run, Homecoming Parade, Homecoming Football game and so much more.
APSU invites alumni and friends to Alumni University

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University alumni who would like to come back to campus to see all the many changes that have occurred in the years since they graduated are invited to Alumni University on Saturday, July 28th.
Alumni University also is open to friends and supporters of APSU. Cost is $30.00 per person or $45.00 per couple. Tuition includes all course offerings, activities, transportation, tours and meals during the event. [Read more]
Robert Penn Warren and the High School Connection

Clarksville, TN – Ask the average college-bound high school student who Robert Penn Warren is and you might hear that the student has no idea that he was a writer.
Most probably the student wouldn’t be able to tell you that Warren was a graduate of Clarksville High School in 1921 or that he was born in Guthrie, Kentucky.
Even fewer would know that he is uniquely the winner of three Pulitzer Prizes, one for fiction and two for poetry; no other Pulitzer Prize winner can claim this accolade. [Read more]
U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn notes concerns about funding for Higher Education during visit at Austin Peay Staet University

Clarksville, TN – An expanded Medicaid and other rising health care costs will impact Tennessee financially, but how those escalating expenses will shortchange state allocations for higher education concerns U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn.
“What we learned from TennCare is that every dollar went to health care, and higher education lost out,” Blackburn said during a visit April 2nd at Austin Peay State University. “We are incredibly concerned about what health care on a federal level is going to do to states and colleges and universities.”
Business After Hours a success

Clarksville, TN – Despite threatening weather, more than 300 people attended the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours, hosted by Austin Peay athletics and the Governors Club, Thursday night, at APSU’s Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill.
Austin Peay President Tim Hall talked about the University’s continued growth and the plan to improve Governors Stadium in addition to encouraging Chamber members to support APSU athletics with their attendance.

Former APSU president writes book with retired APSU PR director

Clarksville, TN – Months prior to the death of her husband, former Austin Peay State University President Dr. Sherry Hoppe began writing the untold story of Bob Hoppe, the Auburn football star charged with first-degree murder in 1988 – 31 years after the crime had happened.
After her husband died in 2008, Hoppe recruited another former APSU administrator to co-author the book. Dennie Burke, the longtime executive director of the APSU Public Relations and Marketing Office, served seven years under Hoppe’s tenure at APSU and agreed to collaborate with her on the book project.
