Dunbar Cave State Park, Port Royal State Historic Park to hold National Trails Day Hikes, June 1st

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – On Saturday, June 1st, 2019, Tennessee State Parks will celebrate National Trails Day with free guided hikes at all 56 state parks. Dunbar Cave State Park and Port Royal State Historic Park will be holding hikes led by park rangers.

This will be the third of the state parks’ signature hikes this year, following First Day Hikes in January and Spring Hikes in March. Thus far, 4,787 park visitors have participated in the hikes.

Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TN – With warmer weather coming, Dunbar Cave State Park and Port Royal State Historic Park are hosting free guided spring hikes led by park rangers on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019.

The hikes fit every level, from short easy-to-walk trails to longer treks through more adventurous terrain, each featuring the natural settings that are so diverse across the state.

“The spring hikes are a great way to explore our parks, as well as get to know other people who share the outdoors in a group setting,” said Anne Marshall, acting deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

Fifty-two volunteers converge at Dunbar Cave State Park for native grasslands

The predicted winter weather conditions gave way to perfect conditions for working outside.

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – Tennessee State Parks will offer free, guided hikes at all 56 state parks the day after Thanksgiving, November 23rd, 2018. Dunbar Cave State Park will be holding an “After Thanksgiving Hike” Wednesday.

“Tennessee’s state parks are once again offering the opportunity to get outdoors the day after Thanksgiving to engage in healthy, fun activities,” said Brock Hill, deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. “It’s a chance to explore the state parks with loved ones around the holidays, with skilled rangers leading the way.”
