Dunbar Cave State Park to host Unknown Realms Cave Tour on Saturday, July 23rd

Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 23rd, 2022, Dunbar Cave State Park will hold the “Unknown Realms” cave tour.

This tour is designed to be a follow-up to our standard cave tour. We venture beyond what you have already seen and explore some of the less frequented areas of the cave. Paths that one time was part of the old commercial tour but have been out of use for 50 years or more.

Park rangers will discuss the history and legends of the cave that developed as Dunbar Cave became the social hotspot of the 19th century.

Dunbar Cave State Park to hold First Day Hike on January 1st, 2022

Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Park will hold a First Day Hike on Tuesday, January 1st, 2022.  The event takes place from 10:30am until 12:00pm.

Join Ranger Adam for one of Tennessee State Parks Signature Hikes. The First Day Hike! We will be walking a 2.75 mile loop hike to discover how the landscape has been altered by the various cultures that have utilized it throughout the centuries.

Please wear good walking shoes and bring water. This is a free program.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for December 18th-19th, 2021

Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Park has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

The upcoming events are: History of Dunbar Cave, Coil Pottery, Dunbar Cave In The Civil War, and Our Cultural Landscape.

Tennessee Honors Clarksville’s Roxy Regional Theatre, Charlie Cushman with “Tennessee Music Pathways” Markers

APSU’s SGI and Tennessee State Parks set “good fire” at Dunbar Cave

October 23, 2020

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On a clear October afternoon, 15 acres of restored native prairie at Dunbar Cave State Park in Clarksville, Tennessee, went up in flames. Smoke lifted high over city streets and neighborhoods, while community volunteers and officials with the Tennessee Division of Natural Areas cheered on a well-planned prescribed fire to help promote and enhance native prairie species.
