Downtown Clarksville Association to hold “13” Sale during Rivers and Spires Festival

Clarksville, TN – To commemorate the 13th year of the Rivers and Spires Festival, local business owners in Historic Downtown Clarksville will be offering “13” specials during the festival starting on Thursday, April 16th through Saturday April 18th.

“Sui Generis”, a solo exhibition by APSU student Lauren McKinney from April 13th-16th

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University student Lauren McKinney will exhibit her tintype portraits and prints in the show, “Sui Generis” from April 13th-16th, 2015, between 8:00am-5:00pm. The opening reception is free to the public and takes place on Monday, April 13th from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
McKinney’s portraits celebrate the unique characteristics of both the individual and the tintype by highlighting the inherent qualities of each individual photographed. [Read more]

Peggy Bonnington Shows ‘Unity in Diversity’ at Planters Bank in March

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature “Unity in Diversity” by local artist Peggy Bonnington from Monday, March 9th-Wednesday, April 1st.
A native of Chattanooga, Bonnington has lived in Clarksville since 1987. Although without formal art training, she has been interested and involved with art since early childhood and has studied a variety of different media in small group or individual sessions with many prominent artists, including painting, pottery, drawing, printmaking and bookmaking.
Acuff Circle of Excellence to honor Joe W. Giles with Ovation Award

Clarksville, TN – Joe W. Giles, an Austin Peay State University alumnus and founder of the Tennessee Arts Academy, the nation’s flagship professional development program for teachers of the arts, will be honored March 1st with the George Mabry Ovation Award.
The award is one of eight to be given by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in recognition of outstanding contributions in the arts to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. The annual ceremony will be Sunday, March 1st, from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and a reception that follows. February ArtWalk to benefit American Heart Association
Clarksville, TN – Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.
With February being American Heart Month, several businesses will be supporting the American Heart Association with donations or a percentage of sales going to the association. In addition, we encourage people to participate in National Wear Red Day on February 5th and wear red to promote awareness of heart disease in women.
