Austin Peay State University, Dickson County School System announce dual enrollment partnership

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is partnering with the Dickson County School System to provide an opportunity for high school students from both Creek Wood and Dickson County High Schools to take college courses at a central Dickson County location.
Students would attend college classes taught by APSU faculty in the morning at the central location and return to their respective high school for lunch and afternoon classes.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Healthcare. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

The Library is partnering with Goodwill Career Solutions for a multi-employer job fair. There will be over 20 employers with 700+ openings. Bring your resume, photo ID and Social Security Card or birth certificate. Please dress for success and be ready to interview.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council invites organizations seeking funding for artistic and cultural projects that benefit the community to apply for an Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant.
Arts Build Communities (ABC) is a program funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and administered by the Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council (AHDC) in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC).
ABC grants offer financial support for arts projects in all disciplines such as dance, music, opera/musical theatre, theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, interdisciplinary and folk arts.

Battle of New Orleans Commeration to kick off in Clarksville Tennessee with keelboat sendoff

Clarksville, TN – On Nov. 13, 1814, a group of Tennessee Militia rendezvoused at Nashville to join Gen. Andrew Jackson in what has come to be called the Battle of New Orleans. They left Nashville on Nov. 18, 21, and 23 and marched to Clarksville, where they boarded flatboats for the long journey to New Orleans.
On Nov. 15, 2014, two hundred years later, Clarksvillians will again send Militia volunteers on a 40-fort keelboat replica down the Cumberland to re-enact that famous battle in New Orleans.
