APSU’s new website earns major award at regional conference

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In the summer of 2017, Austin Peay State University unveiled a newly redesigned website, www.apsu.edu, to enhance the University’s digital presence, and on February 13th, that website was named one of the best in the Southeast.

During the annual Council for Advancement and Support of Education District III conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Austin Peay received an Award of Excellence for Website Redesign.

Fort Campbell wins Broomball Challenge at Downtown Commons Ice Rink

January 13, 2018

Downtown CommonsMontgomery County, TN – Major General Andrew Poppas and his 101st Airborne Division team won the inaugural Mayor vs Major Broomball game at the Downtown Commons ice rink Wednesday night, January 10th, 2 to 1 in overtime.

TRC Executive Director Norman Quirion commented after the game. “What an event. I’m going to say there were at least 300 people out here, and the condition of the ice made tonight’s game more competitive than expected. It wasn’t a high-scoring game, but the competition was real.”

Carroll Financial Trading Center, located on the first floor of the Kimbrough Building, during a public ribbon cutting ceremony.

Austin Peay State University honors former TBR chancellor with John Morgan Walk of History

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When John Morgan says he grew up on the Austin Peay State University campus, he’s not talking metaphorically. His father, Joe Morgan, served as the University’s fourth president, and during those years, the family lived in the historic Archwood Home on College Street.

John literally grew up at Austin Peay, and after earning his degree from the University, he continued to think of the campus as his home.

APSU names alumnus Phillips as executive director of University Advancement

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Kristopher Phillips (’91), a nationally recognized advancement professional, was recently named executive director of the Austin Peay State University Office of University Advancement. Roy Gregory previously served in that position until he retired last June after 24 years of service to APSU.

“We’re excited to have someone of Kris’s caliber lead our advancement efforts,” Derek van der Merwe, APSU vice president of Advancement, Communication and Strategic Initiatives, said. “He understands the intricacies of raising money for institutions of higher education, he is considered a national leader in his profession and his expertise will help guide our advancement team to provide more opportunities for deserving young men and women who wish to earn a college education.”

APSU purchases adjacent, 10-acre Jenkins and Wynne property

Austin Peay State University - APSU - logoClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University, which turns 90 next year, recently experienced a late growth spurt. Earlier this week, the campus grew by about 10 acres when the school finally closed on property previously owned by the Jenkins and Wynne auto dealership.

The $8.8 million purchase marks one of the largest expansions in the University’s history, and it now connects the 182-acre College Street campus with downtown Clarksville.

Tennessee Senator Mark Green donates $50,000 to APSU College of Business

June 17, 2015

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s campaign to develop a state-of-the-art trading room for its College of Business students received a major boost last week when Mark Green, MD, president of the healthcare company AlignMD, presented APSU President Alisa White with a $50,000 donation for that project.

“In building our successful healthcare company, the resources that served as the foundation came from here in the Clarksville community: legal services, capital financing and accounting,” Green, a Tennessee state senator and physician, said. “AlignMD is an authentic Clarksville entrepreneurial success story.”

Roy Gregory to retire after 24 years of service to APSU

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – After serving Austin Peay State University in multiple capacities for 24 years, Roy Gregory, executive director for University Advancement, announced he will retire on June 30th. Gregory informed colleagues and friends of his retirement plans Thursday morning.

“Austin Peay is a special place due to the great people on campus and the outstanding alumni, supporters and friends throughout the nation,” he said. “My years at APSU have been special for me and my family. I am retiring at a time when the future is indeed bright”
