Mountains to Coast exhibit at the Customs House Museum starting November 8th

Clarksville, TN – “Mountains to Coast represents a collection of my favorite subjects to paint. I have found the mountains of Tennessee, the coastal areas of Maine and the Carolinas and American historical sites inspirational. My work reflects the cultural, spiritual and natural environments of these areas. These paintings span more than ten years of reflecting on what I have seen and want to communicate to the viewer,” states Tennessee watercolorist Denton Ridge in reference to his exhibit at the Customs House Museum.
Customs House Museum revisits Bathysphere Adventure starting November 15th

Clarksville, TN – Philbrick Crouch was nineteen when he became a member of the 1930 Oceanographic research team with well-known explorer Dr. William Beebe for the New York Zoological Society to Bermuda.
The Customs House Museum will be revisiting his experience with the exhibit Beyond the Abyss: Phil Crouch & the Bathysphere Adventure on November 15th. The show will include photos of this expedition taken by Mr. Crouch, along with his diary, sketches, and a 90% actual size model of the Bathysphere.

Traces Brings Eerie Sense of Nostalgia to Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Local photographer Greg Sand comes across as a shy, somewhat mysterious guy. The same can be said of his latest photography series. Traces (on exhibit in the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery through October) is a suite of sixteen digital images.
At first glance the viewer is reminded of old family photos from the 60s. Upon further inspection one finds only the shadows and reflections of people who were once present. [Read more]
