Clarksville’s Customs House Museum Gears Up for Biennial National Exhibition

Clarksville, TN – The human form is the theme of the upcoming national juried exhibition at the Customs House Museum. Entries for the show, Figuratively Speaking, are currently being accepted. The 2014 show is open to artists 18 years and older, residing in the United States.
The juror for the exhibition is Ruth Crnkovich, fine art appraiser and collection management specialist for private collectors, corporations, and museums. Ruth has served on multiple museum boards, including as a founding member of the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park in Illinois.

Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday, the Customs House Museum cut the ribbon on its newest permanent exhibit, “Becoming Clarksville: Honoring Legacies of Leadership.”
Through the prism of leadership, the exhibit explores the history of Clarksville and Montgomery County, focusing on the stories of individuals who helped shape the city, featuring unique interactive and video elements. Becoming Clarksville also serves as a legacy for the Clarksville Jaycees, remembering its history and contributions to the people of Clarksville.

2014 Cultural Calendars Now Available through Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council

Clarksville, TN – The 2014 Cultural Calendar, produced by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council, is now available online and at several local shops.
Each month of the calendar features an original work by a local artist, depicting a scene in Montgomery County, along with highlights of arts and heritage activities planned by community organizations for that month.

APSU’s Acuff Circle of Excellence seeking 2014 Ovation Award nominations

Clarksville, TN – The Acuff Circle of Excellence, a nonprofit patron society of the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is seeking nominations for the coveted Ovation Awards, presented annually since 1996.
The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations.
While the Ovation Awards will be presented at a celebration on March 2nd, 2014, at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, nominations are being sought now through Friday, January 17th, 2014. [Read more]
