Customs House Museum receives National Endowment for the Arts Grant to support Art by African Americans

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support a project entitled “Celebrating the Legacy and Future of African American Arts.”
Central to the project is the opportunity for the Clarksville community to visit one of the most comprehensive exhibitions ever organized featuring works on paper by African American artists over the last three centuries.

CTS to offer free summer rides for youth

Program will provide access to parks, pools and activities
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Transit System and the City of Clarksville are offering free summer transportation to young people to help them engage in summer jobs and enrichment programs.
CTS will offer the Summer Youth Free Ride Program from May 30th to August 31st to youth 18 and under with a valid CTS Youth or Student ID.

Clarksville Transit Service will offer free bus rides for youth 18 and under this summer, allowing more opportunity for youngsters to get to work and summer activities.

Surrealist Featured at the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center

Clarksville, TN – Artist Marilyn Murphy is currently featured in the Orgain and Bruner Galleries of Clarksville’s Customs House Museum with the exhibition Short Stories. The twenty-six graphite works bring together futuristic elements married with a sense of nostalgia.
Murphy’s sense of humor is evident in these illustrative happenings through mergings of Southern culture and B-movie sci-fi.
