Clarksville Arts and Heritage invites Organizations to Apply for ABC Grants to Fund Arts Activities

Free workshop to be held at Customs House Museum in Clarksville on April 28th
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council invites organizations seeking funding for artistic and cultural projects that benefit the community to apply for an Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant.
Arts Build Communities (ABC) is a program funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and administered by the Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council (AHDC) in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC).
ABC grants offer financial support for arts projects in all disciplines such as dance, music, opera/musical theatre, theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, interdisciplinary and folk arts.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.
Some of the events in January at the Museum are: In the Garden: A Women’s History Month Exhibition, Sergio Gomez: The Land In Between, Go Figure!, Westward Ho! and April in the Children’s Room: Birds, Blossoms, and Bunnies.

Writers’ Hour Featured during Customs House Museum’s Annual Women’s History Month Exhibition

Clarksville, TN – On March 31st, the Customs House Museum will present a Writers’ Hour event in conjunction with its invitational exhibit celebrating women artists.
Local authors will read from their works that are themed to the museum’s show, In the Garden.
“The museum has held several readings in the past,” states Exhibits Curator Terri Jordan. “It is interesting to hear the variety of poems and stories from our local writers. Often funny, and sometimes sad, the audience is always blown away with the talent we have in the Clarksville area.”

Chicago Artist Sergio Gomez Exhibits at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Chicago-based artist Sergio Gomez brings his bold figurative works to the Customs House Museum with the exhibit The Land In Between.
Exhibited in the two-story Crouch Gallery, the moody, ghost-like forms that anchor Gomez’s large paintings appear restless and calm at the same time, amid dripping colors and spackled landscapes.
Customs House Museum hosts Go Figure! exhibit

Clarksville, TN – Storybooks present enjoyable, meaningful, interactive math explorations to children and adults in Go Figure! – a national traveling exhibit that opens March 1st at the Customs House Museum.
Go Figure! transforms charming children’s books into a kid-sized world where children and adults can have fun exploring math with familiar characters such as Arthur, Frog and Toad, and the Three Bears.
Acuff Circle of Excellence to honor Joe W. Giles with Ovation Award

Clarksville, TN – Joe W. Giles, an Austin Peay State University alumnus and founder of the Tennessee Arts Academy, the nation’s flagship professional development program for teachers of the arts, will be honored March 1st with the George Mabry Ovation Award.
The award is one of eight to be given by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in recognition of outstanding contributions in the arts to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. The annual ceremony will be Sunday, March 1st, from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and a reception that follows.
