Cumberland Winds celebrates Black History Month at the Roxy Regional Theatre on February 23rd

Clarksville, TN – The sounds of West Africa will fill the hall of Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre, the Roxy Regional Theatre, for one afternoon this month.
The Cumberland Winds celebrates Black History Month with a special concert in the intimate setting of the Roxy Regional Theatre on Sunday, February 23rd, 2020 at 2:00pm.
Organized by Yvonne Kendall and Mike Ritter, this narrated performance of instruments, song and dance will travel through time from West Africa to the Americas — North America, South America and the Caribbean — celebrating the musical influence of African culture in the New World.

Cumberland Winds German Band brings Oktoberfest to the Roxy Regional Theatre, October 2nd

Clarksville, TN – The sounds of marches, polkas, waltzes and German music typical of the Oktoberfest season will fill the hall of Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre, the Roxy Regional Theatre, for one evening this autumn.
The Cumberland Winds German Band presents a special Oktoberfest concert in the intimate setting of the Roxy Regional Theatre on Wednesday, October 2nd, at 7:00pm.
Featuring vocalist Sarah Queen, musical selections will include “Alte Kamaraden,” “Liechtensteiner Polka,” “Einmal Am Rhein” and other favorite marches, polkas, waltzes, and German music typical of the Oktoberfest season.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for July 26th – 28th, 2019

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
The upcoming events include: Cooling at the Cave, Citizen Science in the Park, Snacks & Tracks and Prairie Volunteer Workday.
Friends of Fort Defiance to hold “March To The Past” on Saturday, May 4th

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 4th, 2019, the Friends of Fort Defiance will host their annual March To The Past living history event at Fort Defiance in Clarksville from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Live cannon demonstrations, 19th-century music performed by a Cumberland Winds ensemble, period reenactors, and numerous displays and presenters will all be part of this big event.

Numerous exhibits on civilian and military life in the 19th century, artillery demonstrations and more at Clarksville’s historic Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center.
Cumberland Winds Members in Recital at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, May 3rd

Clarksville, TN – While many are familiar with their full band performances, the Cumberland Winds will feature the fine musicians from our community who make up the group during a recital at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, May 3rd, 2019 at 7:30pm.
Featuring soloists and small ensembles performing varied styles and types of music in the intimate setting of the Roxy Regional Theatre, the evening will include performances by Tamera Deichert and Yvonne Kendall on flute duet, Michael Stewart and Emmanuel Mejeun on French horn duet, and Patricia Ritter and Yvonne Kendall on harp and flute duet, as well as pieces by Cumberland Winds’ Woodwind, Saxophone and Clarinet Quartets. Musical direction will be provided by Mike Ritter.
APSU Community School for the Arts offers writing class to veterans, families

AHDC receives $10,000 grant to offer arts experiences to military families

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to enfold active military, veterans and their families into Clarksville’s creative community.
The Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services awarded nine Tennessee Military, Veterans & the Arts grants to organizations throughout the state. Two Montgomery County organizations, AHDC and Gateway Chamber Orchestra, were grant recipients.

As part of the Tennessee Arts Commission Arts and Military grant, Arts for Hearts offered a wood burning class that filled so quickly they have added two additional classes with a waiting list.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) and F&M Bank are hosting this event from 1:00pm until 4:00pm in F&M Bank’s Franklin Room, with its spectacular views of downtown and the Cumberland River.
