The Riverfest Celebration started Friday night, September 10th 2010. Exit Right took the stage at 7:00pm playing on the Gateway Stage.

Riverfest 2010The 23rd annual Riverfest Celebration, kicked off Friday night, September 10th at 5:00pm. This free, two day music and arts festival features three stages of a variety of local, regional and nationally-known entertainers, delicious food, and fun for the entire family.

Exit Right hit the Gateway Stage at 7:00pm to a large crowd. The band played until 8:00pm to a cheering audience.

There’s Still Time to Sign Up for Riverfest’s 4th Annual Regatta

Riverfest Regatta Cardboard Boat RacesThe Riverfest Regatta is not your typical boat race. The boats that will be racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 11th will be made of cardboard and a few other approved materials. Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will also be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams in each division.

The five divisions include Adult Open, Military, Business & Industry, City Department, and Church/Civic.

Lighted Boat Parade

Riverfest 2010Sit back and watch as the Cumberland River is illuminated in a majestic display of floating lights during the 3rd Annual Riverfest Lighted Boat Parade to be held Saturday, September 11th at 8:00pm. Don’t want to just be a bystander in the show? Enter your boat in the festivities and you may even come home with an award!

Judging will take place at the McGregor Park courtesy boat dock. The event will be hosted by the Montgomery County Conservation Club. Locations throughout McGregor Park during the Riverfest Celebration will offer public viewing. [Read more]

Build and Race your Cardboard Boat at Riverfest 2010!

Saturday, September 11th – Sign-in begins at 9:00am at McGregor Park’s Boat Ramp, Races 10:00 am– 1:00pm.

Riverfest Regatta Cardboard Boat RacesA cardboard boat regatta is an event where participants build their own boats using materials from a specified list and race them during timed heats with the fastest time being declared the winner in the respective classes. The course is 100 yards long.

The Riverfest Regatta boats will be raced on the Cumberland River.

Parks and Recreation’s Sunrise Fitness – A Success

July 5, 2010

The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department along with the Clarksville Athletic club has wrapped up their six week free fitness classes that were held beside the Cumberland River at McGregor Park. The series was a success, with at least 20 people per session rising early to attend.

Sunrise Fitness began May 22nd and featured Sunrise Yoga on Saturday mornings coupled with a unique fitness activity such as pilates, zumba, or bootcamp on Wednesday mornings. Each class met from 6:00am to 7:00am.

Mayor Piper to present Mayor’s Certificate to Jose Ortiz

Mayor John E. Piper presented a Mayor’s Certificate to Fort Campbell soldier Specialist Jose Ortiz, with the 63rd Chemical Company, for his life-saving actions on June 18th, 2010 down at the boat ramp of McGregor Park.

The City of Clarksville to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this afternoon

The City of Clarksville invites you to the unveiling of the North Riverwalk Extension Wednesday, June 23rd at 4:00pm. The North Riverwalk Extension consists of a 12’ sidewalk, park benches, picnic tables, lighting, landscaping and irrigation from Pilot’s Plaza (behind O’Charleys) to the confluence of the Cumberland and Red River’s as well as a development pad. City of Clarksville Project Manager, Daniel Binkley sees “this project as a stepping stone to many more great opportunities for quality of life initiatives for the City in the future.” [Read more]
