APSU releases safety guidelines for employee, student return to campus

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) COVID-19 Task Force recently released guidelines outlining how faculty, staff, students and visitors can safely return to campus. On March 23rd, the University moved all classes fully online and the majority of employees began working remotely in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

APSU to host small business webinar on women’s perspective to COVID-19

Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday, June 16th, 2020 at 9:00am the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC), which is part of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) College of Business, will host a new webinar, “COVID-19: A Woman’s Perspective.”

Clarksville Parks and Recreation to open Two Pools, June 20th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will reopen Swan Lake Swimming Pool and Bel-Aire Swimming Pool on June 20th, 2020 restoring another summer tradition delayed this year by the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
“We know how much everyone misses the pools, and we’ve been doing everything we can to shape a safe reopening plan,” said Kimberly Gilbert, Aquatics Superintendent for Clarksville Parks and Recreation.
Daily tickets will control capacity at Swan Lake Swimming Pool and Bel-Aire Swimming Pool.
Austin Peay student wins state’s Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University (APSU) social work student is one of five students in the state to win the Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award.
Mallory Fundora – who just finished her second year at Austin Peay State University – won the award for her work with Project Yesu, a charity she founded when she was 11 to feed and educate children in Uganda.

Clarksville Downtown Market returns to Public Square, Saturday

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, June 6th, 2020, after three weeks at a temporary site in McGregor Park, the Clarksville Downtown Market presented by CDE Lightband will return to its home in Public Square with a full slate of farm and artisan vendors and several food trucks.
“McGregor Park North Extension was a wonderful temporary location for us,” said Trey Stroud, Market Manager for Clarksville Parks and Recreation. “But, we are just as eager to return to normal as the rest of the City, and seeing the Clarksville Downtown Market back in Public Square is a great step toward that.”

APSU class to look at sociology of COVID-19 this fall

At the same time, as governments and businesses have shut down – sometimes leading to protests and violent altercations – the pandemic has revealed deep fissures in modern society.
