Clarksville, TN – The 12th annual Rivers and Spires Festival begins today at 10:00am. The weather could not be better. The forecast is sunny with a high of 81°F with a slight southern wind from 5 to 10 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 55°F. Perfect weather for the last day of the event.
Rivers and Spires kicks off Saturday at 10:00am with Distinguished Steppers Unlimited, Elite Dance Team, Korean-American Association, and Press A to Jump.

Road Closures Announced For Rivers and Spires

Clarksville, TN – Road closures for this week have been announced for the 12th Annual Rivers and Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville.
Some street closures will begin Wednesday, April 23rd. All street will be open again Sunday, April 27th by 7:00am.
The following streets will be closed.
Celebrity Photographer Raeanne Rubenstein Talks Warhol at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House is exhibiting a suite of Andy Warhol portraits by renowned photographer Raeanne Rubenstein. Rubenstein’s exhibit, The Fascinating Mr. Warhol, is on display through May 4th.
The artist will be speaking about her experiences and her friendship with Mr. Warhol in a gallery talk on Tuesday, April 8th. The event, which begins at 7:00pm, is free to the public.
Customs House Museum and Cultural Center hosting Family Ties exhibit by Sher Fick in the Bruner Gallery

Clarksville, TN – The Bruner Gallery of the Customs House Museum greets visitors with a series of suspended “straight jackets”. Using vintage fabrics, hospital baby blankets, and a wedding dress as the textiles, these jackets date the phases of a woman’s life.
Surrounding walls at first glance appear to display whimsical pieces of children’s clothes and trinkets housed in floating Petri dishes. The playfulness of objects in Family Ties invites you in but the messages expressed are much deeper, if not much darker.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan launches Campaign to encourage Safe Storage and Proper Disposal of Prescription Drugs

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announces the launch of a public education campaign to encourage the safe storage and proper disposal of prescription medications.
The campaign, which is part of a national awareness initiative called Safeguard My Meds, will involve a concerted effort by law enforcement officials, medical professionals and citizens of Clarksville to reduce the abuse of prescription medications.
Clarksville’s Customs House Museum Gears Up for Biennial National Exhibition

Clarksville, TN – The human form is the theme of the upcoming national juried exhibition at the Customs House Museum. Entries for the show, Figuratively Speaking, are currently being accepted. The 2014 show is open to artists 18 years and older, residing in the United States.
The juror for the exhibition is Ruth Crnkovich, fine art appraiser and collection management specialist for private collectors, corporations, and museums. Ruth has served on multiple museum boards, including as a founding member of the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park in Illinois.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade to be held November 9th

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, November 9th, with pre-parade ceremonies set for 9:00am in front of the historic courthouse (south side) on Third Street in Downtown Clarksville.
Keynote speaker is Mary Ross, national commander of Women Veterans of America, with remarks by Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan.
Customs House Museum Presents the 3rd Annual Laying Low
