Nashville Artist Brings the Outdoors In at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Through the end of November, guests of the Customs House Museum can enjoy the forests of Elizabeth Sanford within the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery. Bright colored leaves and creatures roam the space in layers of watercolors.
Many of the pieces in the show are reminiscent of pop-up books and shadow boxes.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum currently is featuring the dynamic landscapes of award-winning artist Frank Baggett in its Crouch Gallery exhibition Surroundings: The Art of Frank Baggett. Bold palettes of earthy colors move across the canvases in sharp strokes and golden highlights of reflected sun.
The viewer is instantly drawn into the riverbeds and forests of Frank’s world with the sense of having crossed these familiar paths before on a lazy summer day.

Customs House Museum Presents the 5th Annual Laying Low

Laying Low will be hosted by the downtown branch of F&M Bank, in the courtyard overlooking the Cumberland River.
International Nature Artists Exhibit at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum’s Kimbrough Gallery is the temporary home to Black-faced Tamarins, Sumatran Tigers, and Cherry-throated Tanagers through October 4th.
The artwork in the exhibit, Nature as Art, Art as Awareness, was created by members of the 52-Week-Challenge, a social media group.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum is offering artists in Tennessee and Kentucky an opportunity to exhibit in the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery. The open call will give ten regional artists a one month show in 2016.
The call is open to both 2D and 3D works. Prospectuses are available on the museum website as well as in the museum lobby.
Wes Sumner Joins Planters Bank Commercial Team

A native Clarksvillian, Sumner received a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Memphis and an M.B.A. from Mississippi State University. For the past nine years, he worked for Regions Bank in Knoxville, Nashville and Clarksville, where he was a branch manager.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum is hosting a lecture on Clarence Cameron White by Gail Robinson Oturu on Thursday, July 16th. The event takes place at 12:15pm as part of the museum’s monthly Art & Lunch programs. This lecture is free to the public.
The lecture will share some of Clarence Cameron White’s thoughts, writings, letters, and interesting information about his Tennessee and family connection, early musical experiences, challenges in pursuing his career, and his visits to Clarksville for performances.
The Story of Alvin York on View at the Customs House

Clarksville, TN – The Crouch Gallery of the Customs House Museum has taken on a military appearance this month with the exhibit “In the Footsteps of Alvin York”. This show tells the life story of the man from Pall Mall, Tennessee, in Fentress County, who became one of the most decorated American soldiers in World War I.
On October 8th, 1918, Cpl. (later Sgt.) York led seven soldiers against a much larger German force in the Argonne Forest near the small town of Chatel Chehery, France.
Will Sanders Joins Planters Bank Commercial Team

A native Clarksvillian, Sanders spent the last few years as executive director and country manager for Hancock Prospecting Mongolia, LLC. Prior to that, he worked as financial advisor at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and financial services officer at Farm Credit Services of Mid America.
