Kenwood Middle School Administrator Change Announced

Bart Dixon

Bart Dixon has been appointed principal of Kenwood Middle School, replacing Frank Wilson who today announced his acceptance of the assistant principalship at Kenwood High School.

Dixon was named assistant principal of West Creek High School in February 2009. He previously served five years as band director and after-school program site director at Richview Middle School.

Dixon has served as a music educator on the elementary, middle and high school levels in Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools and schools in Paducah and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. [Read more]

Career-Technical Education Coordinator Named for CMCSS

Karen Pitts has been named coordinator for Career-Technical Education (CTE) in CMCSS. She replaces Biba Kavass, who resigned to relocate.

Pitts has more than a decade in service with CMCSS, with an interlude working with the State Department of Education in the CTE Division. [Read more]

West Creek Middle School Principal announced

May 25, 2010

Bryan Feldman has been named principal at West Creek Middle School for the upcoming school year. He replaces Matthew Blake who requested a return to classroom teaching.

Feldman has been assistant principal at Kenwood High School since 2008. Previously, he served for 10 years as an eighth grade teacher in Kings Mountain, N.C.

He earned his master’s degree in school administration from Gardner-Webb University and his bachelor of arts degree in social studies education from Purdue University.

CMCSS announces Assistant Principals

The following assistant principal appointments are being announced for the 2010-11 school year

Moore Magnet Assistant Principal Madeline Haller will be at Minglewood Elementary, replacing Kim Smith, who has been named principal at Moore Magnet Elementary School.

Haller joined CMCSS in September when Emily Vaughn was named principal at Sango Elementary. Previously, Haller served as principal of Barkley Elementary at Fort Campbell. Haller holds an M.S. in administration and supervision from Austin Peay State University and a B.S. In biology from Arizona State University. Among her honors, she was selected Kentucky District Assistant Principal of the Year in 2004, and she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Master’s program at Austin Peay.

H.O.P.E. presents $500 scholarship to Kenwood High Student

On Tuesday  Pastor Tommy Vallejos, the Director of the Hispanic Organization for Progress & Education (H.O.P.E.) presented Kenwood High School student Katie Segura with a $500 scholarship for outstanding academic achievements. Katie is a Valedictorian, and as been accepted to attend University of Pacific located in Stockton, CA.

Moore Magnet school principal announced

Kim B. Smith will be the principal at Moore Magnet School for the 2010-11 school year. She replaces Laura Black, who decided to return to the classroom.

Smith has been assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary for two years. She is a past Tennessee Teacher of the Year state finalist who has served in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System for 20 years at St. Bethlehem, Ringgold and Kenwood Elementary Schools. [Read more]

MCES’s Honor Choir performs at Governors Square Mall

December 15, 2009

mcesAs part of the ongoing Christmas Festivities in our area, the Montgomery Central Elementary School’s Honor Choir performed at Borders in Governors Square Mall on Monday evening.

The Honor Choir is a group of students in grades 3-5 who are selected in an audition at the beginning of each school year. The choir performs at all school programs, and has been featured in of performances at Governor’s Square Mall and the Rivers and Spires festival. The MCES Honor Choir will open their Christmas program showcasing the 5th grade class on Thursday night, December 17th at 7:00 p.m in the MCES Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public.
