Clarksville Parks and Recreation Facilities’ Hours to Change in Observance of November Holidays

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s three community centers will adjust their hours of operation this November to accommodate students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and their holiday schedule.

The Kleeman, Crow and Burt-Cobb Centers will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm Tuesday, November 6th and Monday, November 12th as students will be out of school for Election Day and Veterans Day. [Read more]

Clarksville Montgomery County School System receives $2.5 million DoDEA Grant for STEM

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will receive a $2.5 million award under the 2012 Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) grant for enhancement of its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs.

The grant, to be administered over three years, comes through DoDEA’s Military-Connected Local Educational Agencies for Academic and Support Programs (MCASP) Projects. [Read more]

The Reality Check Program, which was underwritten by a grant from Bank of America, is a real life simulation activity designed to give students the opportunity to experience the responsibilities of a 25-year-old and providing sole or primary support of their household.

Riverfest partners with F.U.E.L to help collect food for children in Clarksville

2012 Riverfest - 25thClarksville, TN – Riverfest is excited to partner with F.U.E.L., a food subsidization program, by serving as a collection site for food donations, September 7th and 8th, 2012 at McGregor Park.

F.U.E.L (Full of Emmaus Love), is designed to feed children whose only food source may be the food they are receiving at school by collecting donations, bagging them and distributing to schools to place in children’s back packs each Friday. The program currently services 1800 children in the Clarksville Montgomery School System. [Read more]

Northwest High School renovation project moving forward

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education will vote on the $15.4 million construction resolution for the proposed renovation of Northwest High School at its 7:00pm meeting tonight.

The high school opened in the fall of 1970 and the project will include significant upgrades, with a focus on safety and security.
