The award is the highest honor given by the university to alumni and is given to a graduate who is making advancement in his or her career, while also embracing the values that Lee embodies.

Clarksville Ranks 19th Among Top U.S. Cities for Fastest Job Growth

Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville metropolitan statistical area (MSA) ranked 19th in the nation for fastest job growth. A report released today from 24/7 Wall Street, a Delaware-based financial news company, studied employment and job growth from October 2015 to October 2016 for 387 metro areas and announced the top 25 U.S. cities.

The Clarksville MSA added more than 4,700 jobs, an increase of 4.61%, with total jobs at 106,811 in October 2016.

This new franchise is owned by HAZ LLC and operated by Zack and Heather Gates. Zack Gates is a retired military veteran who has served in Afghanistan and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky prior to his retirement. He served at Fort Bragg D. Company 2-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne, and, Fort Campbell 101st Airborne Division 159th Aviation Brigade Pathfinder Company with a rank of Staff Sergeant.

APSU, Vol State offering new 1+1 agreement in chemical engineering technology

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and Volunteer State Community College are partnering to offer a new transfer degree program, the Chemical Engineering Technology 1+1 Agreement.

This new program links Vol State students with APSU to create a seamless transition from Vol State into the chemical engineering technology (ChET) program at APSU. The two-year program awards the Associated of Applied Science credential. [Read more]

APSU Physics Student Yost Receives Honorable Mention for Famed Goldwater Scholarship

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In 2008, Mason Yost was a high school student unsure of where he wanted to go to college or what he wanted to study. That summer, the Cleveland, Tennessee, native ended up making a fateful visit to Clarksville to attend the Governor’s School for Computational Physics at Austin Peay State University. That’s where he met faculty members such as Dr. Alex King, chair of the physics department, and Dr. Jaime Taylor, dean of the College of Science and Mathematics.

APSU to award new chemical engineering tech degree to 50-plus candidates

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – During Spring Commencement on May 6th, Austin Peay State University will graduate the first class of students to receive the new Associate of Applied Science in chemical engineering technology.

A total of 53 students will receive the degree, launched for the first time in Fall 2009. The degree program is housed in the APSU College of Science and Mathematics, which will send off its candidates at 10:00am, Friday, May 6th. [Read more]

Helps Encourage Communities with Pedestrian-Friendly Planning

Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Nashville, TN – Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke announced the launch of its new Walk with Me Tennessee initiative, addressing recreational efforts for cities and counties that focus on planning, health and fitness opportunities, infrastructure, connecting community areas and safety.

Designed as an assessment tool, the program ranks community “walkability” and provides pertinent planning information to help communities increase their pedestrian friendliness.
