A hilarious musical about a musical by people who write musicals, this Tony Award-nominated one-act centers on two struggling writers, Jeff and Hunter, who are desperate to get a piece into the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Austin Peay State University announces APSU Bass Tournament set for May 13th

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has announced that the 24th annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament will be held Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing (Tennessee) State Park. Last season’s tourney drew nearly 200 boats.
More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded. Previously, the Top 25 places earned cash prizes but now only the Top 10 places will gain monetary awards, meaning greater cash payouts, respectively, for those positions.
Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre to hold auditions for “Barefoot in the Park” March 6th and 7th

Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre will hold auditions for Neil Simon’s “Barefoot In the Park” at 7:00pm on Monday March 6th and Tuesday March 7th. Cast includes young couple that can play mid 20’s; Female to play 40 – 60; Male 40 – 60; and two adult males of any age.
Those wishing to audition will be asked to read from the script. No resume or headshot is required. Auditions are open to the public. Production dates are scheduled for April 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th.

Austin Peay State University GuitarFest begins February 11th

GuitarFest features Grammy Award-winning Jason Vieaux in concert
Clarksville, TN – This February, Austin Peay State University and the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will present the annual APSU GuitarFest, featuring guest artist concerts, lectures and workshops.
This year’s festival will feature performances by 2015 Grammy Awards winner, Jason Vieaux, as well as the AronBerkner Duo of guitarist Stephen Aron and flutist Jane Berkner. The festival will conclude with a recital by current Austin Peay students from the University’s guitar program.

Trinity Episcopal Parish holds Fall Festival

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, November 5th, 2016 the Trinity Episcopal Parish held their annual Fall Festival from 10:00am until 3:00pm. The event was filled with activities, crafts, shopping, food. It was a good time for families and the local community.
The petting zoo allowed children to feed and pet animals like a lama, pig, etc. Pony rides were also available. There was also face painting, crafts, games of skill and more.

Pillars of Hope exhibit now on Display at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government has recently accepted the Pillars of Hope exhibit from the Volunteer Clarksville organization.
As many may remember, the Pillars of Hope were created during the 9/11 Serve to Remember Days of Service in 2012, in partnership with the Austin Peay State University Department of Art Professors Ken Shipley and Cynthia Marsh.
Comedy legends The Second City to return to APSU with new show

Clarksville, TN – At 7:30pm on Saturday, September 5th, Chicago’s famed sketch and improv comedy theater, The Second City, will return to Austin Peay State University’s Trahern Theatre with “The Second City: Fully Loaded.”
This new show will feature classic material made famous by Second City stars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell, as well as brand new scenes, songs and improv from the theater’s sold-out shows in Chicago and Toronto.
