Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) art student Jalondra Townsend will present her senior show, “Inspiriative – verb,” February 24th-28th, 2020 in the APSU Art + Design Building’s student gallery. An opening reception will take place from 5:00pm-6:00pm on February 24th in the Art + Design Building.

Clarksville, TN – Two lonely individuals find a connection through dance in the latest offering upstairs in the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace.
Starring Ian Alexander Erbe and Emma Jordan, the heartwarming romantic comedy “Dancing Lessons” plays the 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs at the Roxy for four evenings only, February 17th through February 25th.
Written by Mark St. Germain and directed by Ryan Bowie, “Dancing Lessons” centers on Ever, a socially awkward young man with Asperger’s syndrome, who seeks the instruction of a Broadway dancer, Senga, to learn enough dancing to survive an awards dinner.

Mayor’s Youth Council accepting applications

Clarksville, TN – Are you a junior or senior high school student who is interested in the political system? Do you want to work directly with the Mayor and City officials as a representative of City youth? If so, the Mayor’s Youth Council is accepting applications now through April 15th, 2020.
The Youth Council provides an opportunity for Clarksville teens to acquire greater knowledge and appreciation for the political system through interaction.
Participants will represent the community’s youth and directly engage with the Mayor and City officials through the course of the program.

The Mayor’s Youth Council conducted a book drive last year as a service project, collecting 1,012 books to donate to several Clarksville-Montgomery County elementary schools.

APSU summer coding camps expand for middle, high schoolers

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) is expanding the number of summer coding camps this year that serve students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades to meet a high demand from middle schoolers interested in computer programming. APSU also is expanding its game development camps for high schoolers.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Surrender of Clarksville event to be held at Fort Defiance

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, February 22nd, 2020, the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center will be hosting a living history event from 10:00am to 3:00pm to commemorate the surrender of Fort Defiance to Union soldiers in 1862.
The surrender of Clarksville was a significant event in Civil War history, opening the South to Union forces and the capture of Nashville. Uniformed soldiers will provide living history and cannon firing demonstrations. Visitors are invited to tour the permanent exhibit and view the film, “Crossroads of Change.”

Manna Café Ministries to hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Refuge Community Center

Clarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newly completed Refuge Community Center.
The ceremony will take place at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 at 503 D Street.
The ceremony will be followed by an open house of the Refuge and the Manna Village until 6:00pm.
