Washington, D.C. – Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE Lightband) is one of 184 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) designation from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.

Gamers get their own area at this Year’s Gig City Gaming at Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires

Clarksville, TN – Video game aficionados have a place to unite, unwind and show their gaming skills at this year’s Rivers and Spires Festival.
For the first time ever, the Festival will be bringing a free, fully interactive gaming area to the underground parking garage located on Franklin Street. Gig City Gaming, presented by CDE Lightband, will feature over 50 titles and will cater to over 30,000 gamers.
There will be tons of gaming for everyone to enjoy on systems including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and Play Station 4.

APSU to hold 20th Annual Governors Bass Tournament May 10th at Paris Landing

Clarksville, TN – The 20th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just five weeks away.
This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 10th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tenn., State Park. Last season’s tourney drew 282 boats—14 more than in 2012, despite entrants being forced to utilize the back entrance because of flooding.

Registration is underway for the spring Family Campout beginning at 2:00pm Saturday, May 17th, until 9:00am Sunday, May 18th at the park located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.
Activities will include a bonfire, games, ghost stories and lots of fun!

APSU Acuff Circle of Excellence endows new scholarship

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this month, members of the Acuff Circle of Excellence Executive Board presented Austin Peay State University with a check for $25,000 to endow the new Acuff Circle of Excellence Arts Scholarship.
The mission of the Acuff Circle is to advance the role of arts and culture at APSU and in the Clarksville-Montgomery County community.

Fort Campbell’s 744th Ordnance Company Lends a Helping Hand to Friends of Dunbar Cave

Clarksville, TN – In March, the 744th Ordnance Company (EOD) part of the 52 Ordnance Group (EOD) from Fort Campbell, along with members of the Tennessee Trails Association, volunteered over 50 man hours and removed 400 lbs. of cinder blocks, 300 lbs. of tires, 200 lbs. of metal and over 50 lbs. of trash. Platoon leader, Lt. Chris Weber stated, “We worked our butts off.” He added “Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves.”
Friends Group President, Lionel Senseney is grateful for the community’s effort to help the Friends Group and expand our park. “What an effort!” Lionel said, “Many thanks to everyone that is helping.”
