Clarksville, TN – The economic data were mixed. The estimate of real GDP growth for the first quarter was revised down to a -1.0% annual rate (vs. +0.1% in the advance estimate). Most of the revision was due to a slower pace of inventory growth, which ought to pave the way for increased production in 2Q14.
Slower inventory growth subtracted 1.6 percentage points from overall GDP growth (vs. -0.6 ppt in the advance estimate), while a wider trade deficit subtracted 1.0 percentage point (vs. -0.8 ppt in the advance estimate.

Clarksville, TN – It’s that time of the year where our non-profit S.T.E.P.S (School Tools that Empower and Promote Success) starts collecting school supplies for the next school year 2014-2015
Starting June 1st, S.T.E.P.S will be looking for businesses, clubs, groups, and organizations to place S.T.E.P.S youth created collection boxes around Clarksville til August 3rd.

Asera Care Hospice Foundation Donates to Clarksville Montgomery County School System

Clarksville, TN – Representatives from Asera Care Hospice Foundation presented a $2,500 check to Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) Schools Director B.J. Worthington to purchase materials aimed at helping students who are experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Alzheimer’s Association hosts Caregiver Conference at First Baptist Church July 24th, 2014

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University hosted its 85th Spring Commencement ceremony on May 9th, in the campus’ Dunn Center.
More than 1,100 students from the College of Arts and Letters, College of Behavioral and Health Sciences, College of Business, Martha Dickerson Eriksson College of Education, College of Science and Mathematics, and School of Technology and Public Management were awarded degrees.

Austin Peay State University’s Kristofer Ray named visiting scholar to University of Michigan’s Eisenberg Institute

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Kristofer Ray, Austin Peay State University associate professor of history, was recently named a visiting scholar to the University of Michigan’s Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies.
He will spend the summer at the Institute, working on his next book, titled “Cherokees, Europeans and Empire in the Tennessee Corridor, 1670-1763.”
