Local Filmmakers bring Web Series “Local Air” to Clarksville

Clarksville, TN – Beginning August 4th, the Clarksville area will act as the primary home for a new comedic web series entitled “Local Air”, starring David Alford of the ABC series “Nashville”. This series was created by Josh Raby and is produced by Alex Syler, both residents of Clarksville.
“Local Air” tells the story of Gil Cotton (David Alford), a small-town television personality, whose fame becomes his biggest liability when his marriage comes to a screeching halt live on the air during the 20th anniversary broadcast of his popular morning show.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum presents The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections in the museum’s Orgain Gallery. The exhibition runs through September 7th, and features the work of notable artists Reverend Howard Finster, Georgia Blizzard, and Mose T, among others.
“This showing of works exemplifies the characteristics of the Outsider artist,” states Exhibits Curator Terri Jordan. “We are thrilled that Mr. Hicks and Mr. Vander Elst are sharing their treasures with us. This show is a great treat for the museum’s visitors. Our younger guests seem especially excited with the artwork.”

Clarksville, TN – For four performances only, beginning August 4th at 7:00pm, see another side of the cast of GREASE in a cabaret style performance of their favorite musical theatre selections, A Bit of This, a Bit of That, at the Roxy Regional Theatre.
This bonus piece to the Roxy’s current production of GREASE will feature songs performed by cast members Ryan Bowie, Samantha Carroll, Matt Casey, Ian Erbe, Kari Grunberg, Ashley Harris, Christopher Herr, Alicia Jayne Kelly, Derik Lawson, Rori Nogee, Anthony Nuccio, Cameron Perry, Emily Rourke and Matthew Smolko, with Tom Thayer on piano.
Clarksville’s Tilted Kilt to hold Collection Drive for Sanctuary Inc. on Saturday, August 9th

Clarksville, TN – Crystal Nyhus, Mrs. Tennessee Petite America 2014, will host a collection drive for Sanctuary, Inc on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in Clarksville. The collection station will be set up as a tented area in the parking area of the Pub.
Sanctuary, Inc. is a nonprofit agency committed to the provision of preventative and restorative services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Clarksville, TN – As was widely anticipated, the Federal Open Market Committee tapered another $10 billion from the monthly pace of asset purchases (now at $25 billion, with the program on track to be completed at the end of October).
The Fed provided no additional guidance on short-term interest rates, but repeated that the federal funds rate target would likely remain exceptionally low for “a considerable period” after the asset purchase program ends and that economic conditions will likely warrant a below-normal federal funds rate even as the Fed nears its employment and inflation goals.

Equity markets slide after an eventful month

Clarksville, TN – The last week of July has been eventful on a number of fronts. The economic calendar was packed, geopolitical tensions intensified and Argentina teetered on the edge of default, eventually going over. This is the second time the South American country has defaulted on its debt in the past 13 years.
The default may be short-lived if Argentina can reach an agreement to pay its missed $1.5 billion interest payment.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 3rd through August 9th, 2014

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Nature Boot Camp, Beginning Birding, Trail of Tears Walk, Fishing Equipment and Techniques, and Insects.
