Austin Peay State University only school in state committed to federal vet success plan

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In August 2013, the federal government developed the “8 Keys to Veterans’ Success” initiative to help veterans succeed on college campuses.

Austin Peay State University, which has a long history of supporting veterans and military personnel, immediately endorsed the program, and one year later, APSU remains the only school in Tennessee committed to implementing the veteran-friendly practices on its campus.

Clarksville’s Tilted Kilt will hold Sanctuary Inc. Collection Drive Tomorrow

August 8, 2014

Tilted KiltClarksville, TN – On Saturday, August 9th, 2014 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in Clarksville, Crystal Nyhus, Mrs. Tennessee Petite America 2014, will host a collection drive for Sanctuary, Inc. The collection station will be set up as a tented area in the parking area of the Pub.

Sanctuary, Inc. is a nonprofit agency committed to the provision of preventative and restorative services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation offers new Fly Fishing program for youth and teens

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Do you like fishing? Are you interested in aquatic environments?

Clarksville Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the National Fishing in Schools Program to offer a class in basic fly fishing and spots are still available!

Class will be held at the Crow Community Center on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, September 11th through October 2nd, and is open to grades 6-12. [Read more]

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 10th through August 16th, 2014

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Nature Boot Camp, Evening Nature Hike, Nature Readings: Friends, Port Royal History Walk, and Lake Life.

Select City of Clarksville Pools season extended through Labor Day

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation may have closed their public pools for the summer season, but, New Providence Pool and Beachaven Pool will be extending the Summer Swim Season!

Current summer pool passes will be honored during the extended hours.
