Former APSU student joins Gwen Stefani’s team on ‘The Voice’

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) former student Calvin E. Lockett has joined Gwen Stefani’s team on NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice.”
Lockett, age 25, wowed the judges as he sang the Temptations’ classic “Just My Imagination” during the Sept. 30 airing of the show. Judges Blake Shelton, John Legend and Stefani hit their buzzers seconds into the song during the blind audition.
APSU hosting Q&A with award-winning, Atlanta-based director Freddie Ashley

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 26th, 2019 the Austin Peay State University Department (APSU) of Theatre and Dance and the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) will host a public question and answer session with Tony-winning director and Acuff chair Freddie Ashley. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be at 2:00pm in the Trahern Theatre.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s New Providence Pool open for indoor season

Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday, October 1st, 2019, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s New Providence Pool, the only public indoor pool in the City of Clarksville, opened for its fall and winter indoor season.
New Providence Pool is at 168 Cunningham Lane, off Fort Campbell Boulevard. The pool offers swim lessons, water fitness classes, lap swim, and open recreational swimming through May 3rd, 2020. The facility also offers a children’s pool area, a climbing wall, inflatables, diving board, and a concession stand to purchase drinks and snacks. An ADA accessible hydraulic lift chair allows those with special needs to enjoy the pool.
APSU’s Zone 3 Press, Goldsmith Press launch poetry competition

This award honors circles that have excelled in all areas of membership development and have met all national requirements as outlined in the ODK minimum standards.
Northwest High School Celebrates Semicentennial Anniversary

Clarksville, TN – This year marks the 50th year of Northwest High School (NWHS) in Clarksville, Tennessee. Built in 1970 with its first graduating class in 1971, the school hosted tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students with a capacity of 1,200 students. The first principal was Peter Kyriakos.

A 1980’s aerial view of Northwest High School (NWHS), in which a gym and classrooms as well as the “400” or “vo-tech” building had been added from the original structure. In 2014, a $17 million renovation was completed which added an auxiliary gym, a theatre, administrative wing, kitchen and indoor corridor to connect the 400 Building. (CMCSS Operations)
