Clarksville Parks and Recreation now forming Spring Adult Softball leagues

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for spring adult softball with leagues open to men and women ages 18 and older.

League play takes place at Heritage Park Softball Complex, 1241 Peachers Mill Road. Games will be weekly and include the following leagues: Men’s, True Co-Ed (equal men and women), Men’s 45 & over, Co-Ed (at least two women) and Women’s.

To ensure your team gets a spot in the league, a team registration fee of $100.00 is due by February 14th.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – On January 11th, 2020, Author Jerry T. Wooten will speak at Fort Defiance on the important role the Union supply depot at Johnsonville, Tennessee, played in the Western Theater of the Civil War at 2:00pm

His new book, Johnsonville: Union Supply Operations on the Tennessee River and the Battle of Johnsonville, November 4th-5th, 1864, offers a wealth of new material about the creation and strategic role of the supply depot, the use of railroads and logistics, and its defense by U.S. Colored Troops.

Warm Souls touches hundreds Christmas Eve

Radical Mission Compassionate MinistriesClarksville, TN – Jon Vaughn of Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries stood at the main entrance of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Morgan University Center on Christmas Eve, welcoming hundreds of people who were in need of a little help during the holiday season.

“This is our 12th year of doing this,” Vaughn said. “During the last 11 years we have served a little over 12,000 meals, and given away more than 15,000 toys. We have also provided 350 free haircuts in the four years our volunteers have offered that service.”

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s popular lighted walk through event, Christmas on the Cumberland continues now through January 1st, 2020. Bring your family, relatives and friends down to the McGregor Park RiverWalk to enjoy the festive lighting displays.

Christmas on the Cumberland is open nightly from 5:00pm-10:00pm, Sunday through Thursday and 5:00pm-11:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays through January 1st, 2020.

Admission is free.

Thousands come out every year to Christmas on the Cumberland to experience the captivating display of more than two million lights.
