The Roxy offers a peak at their upcoming production of “The Civil War”

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 14th 2011 at the Rivers and Spires Festival, the Roxy Regional Theatre offered a taste of their upcoming production,”The Civil War”.

Beginning Friday, April 22nd, at 8:00pm, the Roxy Regional Theatre marks the Sesquicentennial with “The Civil War”, a musical tribute covering the enormous emotional landscape of the most difficult test our nation has ever endured.

Written by Frank Wildhorn, Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy, “The Civil War” is directed by Tom Thayer and features Bryan Benware, Ryan Bowie, Rendell DeBose, Jesaira Glover, Brianna Hertzberg, Travis Kendrick, Matthew Magnusson, Keith Panzarella, Michael Quinichett, Roslyn Seale, Jabriel Shelton, Kendall Anne Thompson and Christopher Wren.

“The Civil War” runs April 22nd through May 21st, playing Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, with a 2:00pm matinee on Saturday, May 14th. Tickets are $20.00 (adults) and $15.00 (ages 13 and under) and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at 931-645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am – 2:00pm, weekdays).

2011 Rivers and Spires Begins

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 14th, the Rivers and Spires festival kicked off in Clarksville TN. The Roxy Regional Theatre sang songs from the upcoming “Civil War” on the Public Square stage. The Roxy was followed by the rhythms of The Bucket Boys.

The last act of the evening was Mr. Speed, America’s KISS Tribute band. By the end of the night, Mr. Speed had the crowd a rocking.

4th Annual Poker Run to Benefit Montgomery County Veterans Transportation

Clarksville, TN – Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter 1 will host its 4th annual poker run to benefit the Montgomery County Veterans Transportation Services on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 at Appleton Harley-Davidson/Buell in Clarksville, Tennessee.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Observance

The Fort Defiance Interperative Center Ribbon Cutting

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville held an invitation only grand opening for the newly redesigned Fort Defiance site on Thursday. The public opening is scheduled for this morning with a gala event that aims to bring the history of the fort to life. Fort Defiance never fired a shot in anger, however the Fort and the city it guards looms large in the history of the Civil War era.

Dr. Trahern Receives TBR Philanthropy Award Because of Generosity to APSU

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Joseph B. Trahern Jr. was presented the 2011 Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor’s Award of Excellence in Philanthropy during the 53rd Annual Tower Club Dinner meeting at Austin Peay State University, held April 1st.

APSU President Tim Hall, who nominated Trahern for the award, said, “Though Dr. Trahern never taught at APSU, our institution has been fortunate enough to be the recipient of his extreme generosity. As a native of Clarksville, he understands the important role APSU plays in this community.”

S.T.A.T. (Student Traffic Awareness Training) Class for Teens

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department will be holding a four (4) hour Student Traffic Awareness Training class for Clarksville Montgomery County high school students who have a learner’s permit or driver’s license.

This class is Free.
