Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter 1 Hosts 3rd Annual Poker Run to Benefit Montgomery County Veterans Transportation Services

Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter 1Clarksville, TN – Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter 1 (www.rollingthunderky1.org) will host its 3rd annual Poker Run to benefit the Montgomery County Veterans Transportation Services on Saturday, August 20th at Appleton Harley-Davidson/Buell in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The entry fee is $10.00 and registration begins at 9:00am. There will be food, music and prizes for participants. All bikes depart from and return to Appleton’s on 2501 Highway 41A Bypass in Clarksville. [Read more]

Clarksville not selected as Most Patriotic City

Best of the RoadClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville was not selected as the winning city in the Most Patriotic category of the Rand McNally-USA Today Best of the Road contest.

The announcement, which named Rapid City, SD, as the category winner, came today at the Destination Marketing Associations International conference in New Orleans.

Rapid City was selected as the winner from the six finalist cities in the Most Patriotic category, which included Clarksville, TN; Williamsburg, VA; Peachtree City, GA; Emporia, KS; and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. [Read more]

APSU student earns leadership award at ROTC course

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University student recently was presented the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Leadership Excellence Award at the U.S. Army’s Leader Development and Assessment Course at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.

Marcos Gutierrez, of Pasadena, Texas, was ranked No. 1 among 469 Army cadets for the 5th Regiment at the 29-day Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, the capstone training and assessment exercise for the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area Programs for July 24th through July 31st

Clarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer.

Liberty Park Boat Ramp to open additional hours

Justice Assistance Grant Public Comment Session

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN -The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County intend to submit a joint application for the 2011 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $89,798, with the funds to be shared equally by the County and the City for traditional law enforcement and crime prevention activities. Any person wishing to make a comment is invited to attend a public comment period July 18th, 2011 at 1:00pm.

This session will be held in the Finance Department Conference Area, Room 300, 3rd Floor of City Hall, 1 Public Square, Clarksville, Tennessee.
